Five 2010 Girls Academy Talents Scouts Should Know

The Girls Academy Winter Showcase/Champions Cup kicks off on Thursday from Norco, California. The event brings in teams from all over the country for the chance to compete against the best while playing in front of scouts.    Below is a scouting report on five of the talents scout should be aware of heading into the event.    McLaughlin is a forward/attacking midfielder on the Sporting Nebraska 2010 GA team. She was part of the Girls Academy National Talent ID roster over the summer. She impressed at that event and earned a spot on the Best Of the event team. McLaughlin and her squad face Silicon Valley SA, New Mexico SA, and San Antonio City during their weekend in Southern California. The talented attacker can drop into the midfield and run the show for her team. She has good close control on the dribble and plays with her head up. She has excellent ball striking technique and is fully capable of scoring from anywhere inside 30 yards on goal. She could be the key piece for her side during the event.     Breyer is one of the most fascinating prospects in the 2010 age group. She's been identified previously as a top talent in the Girls Academy Talent ID events. She's one of the standouts on the Tonka Fusion team, which will be playing in the Showcase against 1974 Newark, Rhode Island Surf, and Tophat Navy. Breyer is five-foot-nine and listed as a midfielder/defender. She can do-it-all on the field. She's right footed, skillful, athletic, and competitive. She probably has a bright future at outside back or center back. Breyer is a 2029 who looks to be among the top talents in the Midwest.     Konkle is a defender/midfielder on the [program_tooltip program_id='286904' first='Century' last='United'] 2010 Girls Academy team. She was named to the Girls Academy Talent ID event last year. Konkle's recent play as the right center back for her club squad has been exceptional. She is poised, smart, and constantly improving. Konkle's vision is a strong point of her game. She's a top passer for her position and can split the lines of the defense. She's one of the top 2029s from Pennsylvania, and looks to be on her way to getting on the radar for all scouts in the region.     Coffman is a forward on the Beadling 2010 GA team. She's a dynamic player who plays with unstoppable engine. Coffman has been part of the Girls Academy Mid-Atlantic Talent ID in the past. She's also been called into US Soccer Talent ID events. She's been terrific at the start of the season for her club side. The winger is an undeniable talent. She can finish with either foot. She plays with the tenacity that suggests she is going to win every duel and score every time she touches the ball. Coffman has the potential to be a top winger in the 2028 class.     Simms is a goalkeeper on the McLean 2010 GA team. She is five-foot-10. She is a confident goalkeeper with good diving technique, strong hands, and elite qualities as a shot-stopper. Her athleticism and height help her make saves that not many goalkeepers in this class can pull off. She has a top-tier highlight reel with stops including a jaw-dropping block on a penalty kick. Even with all that quality in the best aspect of being a goalkeeper, Simms' best attribute is her quality on the ball. She has excellent footwork and really stands out as a passer. Simms is a top prospect among the goalkeepers at this event.
