Prep Soccer was in Dallas over the weekend, watching matches and looking at part of the thousands of players who got on the field during the event. On Sunday, we were at the Toyota Soccer Center, in Frisco, following matches of the 2011 age group. We're now featuring the players who did a good job in their matches, and today the focus will be on the midfielders:

With Siefert in midfield, [program_tooltip program_id='283497' first='Sting' last='Austin'] had a win and a loss in the showcase. She was very active and efficient in their 3-0 win over Eastside FC. A defensive midfielder, she was very good at shielding the team's backline, demonstrating great energy to cover ground, winning duels with firm defensive actions, and using her positioning to intercept long passes. Siefert also distributed the ball efficiently and showed quality to step into the attacking half and make plays, feeding her teammates with good passes.

Sharma's Sporting Blue Valley team returned home undefeated from Texas after earning a win and a tie. A box-to-box midfielder, she delivered a great performance in a 1-1 tie with Sting Black, combining energy and quality in the center of the field. Sharma was very active defensively and benefited from her positioning to pop up in the right spots to make stops and pick up second balls. She got on the ball a lot and showed excellent vision and decision-making to move it efficiently, even when under pressure, finding teammates in good spots and managing to get the ball to them even when surrounded by multiple opponents. Sharma also supported the team's offense by dribbling the ball into the final third.

Kataya was with the PacNW SC team that had a tie and a loss in their trip to Texas. The midfielder was one of the team's best players in their 2-0 loss to [program_tooltip program_id='283243' first='Albion' last='Hurricanes FC']. Kataya had more of an offensive role with the team and was important in helping them get the ball into the attacking half by dribbling it forward and shielding it with her body. She also operated well in the final third, showing good vision and accuracy to pass the ball.

Gonzalez helped Solar SC be one of the top teams of the weekend in Dallas, earning a pair of victories and not conceding any goals. She was very good for them in midfield against FC Stars Blue and helped the team triumph 2-0. A tall and technical player, Gonzalez was excellent on the ball, using her body to shield the ball and keep possession and showing great quality with her distribution, often connecting first-time passes. She was very active defensively, too, helping her team control the center of the field and doing very well when she stepped up to press high, helping generate turnovers and passing errors.

Sciandra helped FC Stars Blue produce a positive record in Texas, returning home with two wins and a loss. I got to watch her in their only setback, a 2-0 loss to Solar SC, in which she still had a solid shift despite the team's negative result. A tall and mobile central midfielder, she appeared well defensively for them, stepping away from the center of the field to cover her teammates on both flanks and having success in most of her actions. Sciandra also showed good ability to connect long passes, often getting her team out of Solar's pressure by efficiently getting the ball into the attacking half with direct passes.

Stuart was a key piece in midfield for [program_tooltip program_id='283282' first='Challenge' last='SC']. She showed some interesting qualities in their 2-1 loss to SLSG Navy, being one of their most active and productive players on the field. A tall player, she used her body well to shield the ball, but also showed great footwork to drive it forward, quickly gaining ground and keeping the ball close to her feet as she progressed. Stuart also showed good vision and the ability to connect passes, be it deeper on the field, supporting the team's buildup, or in the final third.

Taylor featured for the [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'] team that won back-to-back matches in the event and didn't allow any goals. She was very productive and active in their 3-0 win over Bethesda SC. Playing as an attacking midfielder, Taylor moved all over the field to make plays, coming to the wings to get on the ball on many occasions. She was very good at beating opponents off the dribble and was very direct when on the ball, always looking to get it into the final third.
