NY 2028 Rankings Preview: 4 ECNL CB to Know Before Release

The Prep Soccer state rankings in New York for the 2028 class will be updated this week. Prior to the release of the new rankings, check out a scouting report on four of the top center backs from the ECNL worth the attention of scouts.    Ramponi is the prospect with the easiest path to the immediate minutes at the next level. She's easy to see as a four-year starter at center back at the college level. She plays right center back for World Class 2010 ECNL. She has been a captain for her club team too. She does everything well defensively. She is strong on the ball, smart about the timing of her tackles, and dominant in aerial duels. Ramponi needs to improve on her first touch and her decision-making on the ball. When she is pressed, she can be a bit too rash with her passing. There is plenty of reason to believe that aspect of her game will improve as she continues against elite competition. She has shown to rise to the level in the past. Ramponi has the physical traits that make her a top-tier prospect.     Korzenko is a center back on the SUSA 2010 ECNL team. She plays right center back for her club team. She is right footed, athletic, and tall. She has been part of the Gotham FC talent ID events in the past. She's also been part of US Soccer talent ID events. She was the Class AAA Defensive Player of the Year for her high school this past season. Korzenko is a dominant player at the club level. She wins the duel at the point of attack. Her passing over distance is excellent. She picks out teammates and hits the ball with a purpose. Korzenko displays a lot of the traits that suggest she will be a multi-year standout at the college level.     Arabadjief is a defender on the SUSA 2010 ECNL team. She is versatile player who can play pretty much anywhere on the field. I've primarily seen her in a center back role recently. She is right footed, but she plays in the left center back spot. She comes from a soccer family and has a high level understanding of the game. Her ceiling is sky high and arguably among the best in this group. There is reason to believe that Arabadjief is just scratching the surface as a player and will be an elite player at the next level as she solidifies her role as a defender and leader.     Kugler is a center back on the [program_tooltip program_id='283528' first='WNY' last='Flash'] 2010 ECNL. She plays left center back for her club team. She was a First Team Ohio Valley All Conference Selection last year. One of four Flash players to earn that honor. She's been excellent this season as well. She's a strong defender who does well in 1v1 situations. Her comfort on the ball is a weapon too. She is able to join into the attack with her dribbling and decision-making on the ball. Kugler matches up well against center forwards and shows the smarts to shutdown the attack with her positioning and defensive style.
