Texas HS Playoffs: Summer Creek overcome Travis in the area round

She spent time playing as an attacking midfielder and forward and showed an interesting skill set, which allowed her to make an impact on both roles. Atkins used her body very well to shield the ball, managing to make plays in crowded areas, and was excellent with her vision and decision-making. The forward scored a beautiful goal from outside the box and fired some other dangerous shots on goal and was very calm and confident to convert the penalty kick. Purcell took her chances in a difficult shot from outside the box and was rewarded with the beautiful goal that paved the way for the Lady Bulldogs' victory. She played the No. 9 role with great mobility, making well-timed diagonal runs and working well with her back to the goal. Komatinsky was probably the player with the most touches on the field, and she was incredibly efficient, moving the ball intelligently and connecting the vast majority of her passes. The senior was very active in the early stages of her team's playmaking and often fed the ball to the attacking players in great spots. Holmes was very present offensively and combined well with the players that spent time on the right wing, at times overlapping and on other occasions feeding them with accurate passes down the line. The right back also did well with her set pieces, providing good service from free kicks and corner kicks. A right-sided center back, she played hard on defense and was very successful at winning duels and intercepting passes around the penalty box. Hancock also appeared well when she had to cover her teammates, showing great mobility to get to the ball and stop plays. Marek covered a lot of ground defensively and showed good energy to get into duels. She took really good care of the ball when she had possession, rarely wasting it and helping her team move it upfield. She had some issues when Summer Creek overloaded her zone, but in general did well defensively, showing good firmness to get into duels and great pace to keep up with the opponents' quick winger.
