MLS Next Flex U16 Lockdown Center Backs

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The city of Frisco, Texas, recently staged six action-packed days of soccer, with Toyota Soccer Center hosting the 2026 MLS Next Flex tournament.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The event featured 304 teams from all over the country and qualified 76 of them for the MLS Next Cup Playoffs, which will be held from May 23-31 in Salt Lake City, Utah.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Soccer was in North Texas for two days, and I got to watch many of the most loaded and talented teams in the country in action. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li><strong><a href="https://prepsoccer.com/2026/04/mls-next-flex-friday-photos-u19-u16/">MLS Next Flex: Friday U19/U16 Photos</a></strong> </li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>During our time there, many prospects delivered standout performances and showed tremendous potential for the future of their careers. Now, with the event completed, we're going over several of them. With a solid combination of physical tools and intriguing defensive instincts, he led their backline with a very efficient game. Sapp gets off the ground well and is very good in aerial duels, but also does well on the ground, timing his tackles intelligently and having a high success rate in his defensive actions. Very consistent and efficient, he anchored their backline with strong and effective defensive plays. Hawkins is excellent at defending the penalty box, using his positioning to clear everything in the air and stepping at the right times to dispossess opponents as they enter dangerous zones. Clifton has an interesting athletic combination, being tall, yet quick, and is very solid defensively, standing out for his positioning and the timing of his tackles. The promising center back passed the test playing against strong competition and delivered strong performances on the backline for them. Coriano's game is very mature and efficient and that shows on the defensive side of the game with impeccable positioning, firm defensive actions and very few errors. A central defender with good size and mobility, he had an important role in the team's playing system. Ramirez does a good job with his positioning and is always in good spots to intercept long passes, but also thrives when chasing quick wingers, keeping up with their pace.
