Rankings Preview: Michigan Five on the Rise

The updated state rankings for Michigan's 2029 class will be released next week. Prior to the unveiling of the updated rankings, check out a scouting report on five players who are new to the rankings with this update.    A standout from both high school and club, Sharrow is a player on the rise in Michigan from the 2029 class. She was an award winner at both levels of the game in the past season and expectations are sky high for the upcoming campaign.   She's a dynamic right-footed attacking talent who has great strength on the ball. She can be a bit narrow-focused in her approach. When she gets on the ball, she gets at goal in a hurry and has found success with that approach.   Sharrow has been a top performer for every team she's been on. There's every reason to believe that will continue to be the case in the future.     Cousino is a player who stood out from high school soccer in Michigan last season as a freshman. She was an All-State Honorable Mention. She joined the [program_tooltip program_id='332232' first='Michigan' last='Tigers'] Girls Academy for the upcoming club campaign, which means she's going to have a bright spotlight on her during 2026/2027.   Cousino is a forward/winger. She is a finisher. She consistently finds ways to get the ball in the goal. She has a good knack for the tactical nuance of the position. She has pace to get behind the defense and the soccer smarts to time her runs off the ball perfectly. Her dominance in aerial duels certainly stands out as well.   Cousino might be one of the players who jumps up the rankings in the next update as she shines in the Girls Academy during the opening contests of the season.     Jones is a defensive midfielder and center back on the [program_tooltip program_id='283695' first='Michigan' last='Jaguars'] Girls Academy team. She was named to the Girls Academy National Talent ID event over the summer. She had an outstanding event in Richmond.   Jones is a big-time prospect at left center back. She was among the best defenders at the event. She brought her vision from the midfield to the role and sliced apart the opposition with her passing. She also showed comfort on the ball to progress up the field off the dribble.   Defensively, she is aggressive. She will jump into passing lanes and cut out passes. She's got the quality in the duel to shutdown the top attacking player on the opposing team. She is a talent worth being on the radar for all college scouts.     Amey is a center back on the [program_tooltip program_id='378478' first='Pass' last='FC'] squad. She also played for [program_tooltip program_id='283697' first='Midwest' last='United'] last season. She's listed at five-foot-nine on her player profile. She looks the height on the field. She plays like the tallest player out there.   She's a leader for her team and sets the tone with her energy, effort, and organization. She builds an unbreakable line for the defense. She is a more traditional center back in the sense she will kick all the air out of the ball to keep the opposition from trying to score.   Amey is a top center back in the class for her defensive quality. She is a tough player to get past and a frustrating one for forwards to go against.     Coulter is an attacking midfielder/forward on the [program_tooltip program_id='283695' first='Michigan' last='Jaguars'] Girls Academy. She played on the club's 2010 team last season - which meant she was facing off against 2028s. She was very effective against Tophat in the Girls Academy playoffs. She did not find a goal in that game, but she showed the glimpses with a lot of signs of elite potential.   She can play as the attacking midfielder or the striker. She can also feature on the wing. She strikes the ball well from the run of play and dead ball situations. She also has excellent playmaking qualities with her passing.   The key aspect of her game that has made a difference at the club level is her two-way play. She is a ferocious defender and excellent on the slide tackle. Coulter has a lot of the key traits for an attacking midfielder in a high pressure style of play.
