2010 Sporting GNV: Gainesville's Go-Getters

Sporting Gainesville Soccer Academy (formerly Gainesville Soccer Alliance) are entering their 2nd season under the Sporting Soccer Academy umbrella. There is progress to expand on, including the N1 / FCL Boys departments. There are many benefits with this program: a locally serviced team in a more rural region, present / future playing opportunities from obtaining results while developing, and the sporting connection for select players to participate with Jax. With that being said, here are the rising returnees looking to continue consistent impact over the span of a youth calendar season: Hernandez Ramos is a stopper central defender who gets in harm's way of aerial duels, threatening passes and loose balls. Securing safely in place before redirecting play to teammates ahead. Not afraid of getting physical with target men, fighting to confiscate every inch of space available. Wins headers at a high clip, discouraging direct play because of the risk involved. Yaxon is an inside attacker that utilizes gaps created from front foot soccer when they appear. Capable as a winger, inside forward or CAM, versatility is present. Confident with a straight to goal approach, scrapping to ensure passes reach the pockets where real chances are created. Clear technique observed when shooting from further ranges, lowering laces to let it fly. James is a pacy, improvising winger that maximizes every touch when finding areas to approach out wide. Evaluates beforehand how the side's shape opens wide to counteract the rush, instantly being the target. A regular in short passing play before an approach as mentioned to attack goalposts, holding runs for a chance at curlers, power shots that travel alongside dip. A wide mid appearing in a multitude of shapes, showcasing the same effort finding a way to break off from rigid backlines. Understands how compact shapes refuse to budge, innovatively finding a path through. Drawing out individuals through skillful mechanics (interchanges, stop and go's, reversals) or playing around the numbers entirely, exhibiting the pace of play utilized in these match defining moments. Direct striker with quality touches for receiving passes of different height, velocity and direction. Plays in a forward thinking manner, finding supporters on a tee to curate progressive moments. Will support in a wide range of areas, being the means for chance creation that finds the box. Patient with late runs, adding to the tally and importantly the mental prowess. De Portu is a creative #10 that masters the responsibilities required to fulfill as an attacking midfielder. An engine near the half line who can secure play before driving decisions forward. Instant impact when play resumes, all that is needed is a moment for trackers to make a mistake before the green light is there to score or create chances against low volume.
