ECNL Southwest 2012/2013: Players Making an Early Impact

She's a dynamic right winger/midfielder. Part of me believes that US Soccer has put her as a high priority player considering a future at right back. She's been called into the upcoming Talent ID event. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rose had three assists in the win against Sporting CA USA over the weekend. She hits an incredibly accurate cross with pace for her age. She also delivers it consistently. Her 1v1 skills are good, but I wouldn't consider it the best part of her game. She can create space in the 1v1 situation, but not always looking to get past the first defender - hence, some of the reasoning for why she might end up as a defender on the Youth National Team in the 2013 age group. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rose is an exceptional playmaker. Her passing (and her crossing) is in a tier of its own among this age group. She's been a fixture with the team for some time. Nam was a bright spot of the goalscoring for the team in the dominant win over the weekend. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>She had an excellent header on the opening goal. And followed that up with another goal on a header. She capped the outstanding first half with a sublime assist on the third goal. Her movement off the ball and combination play are her top attributes in her center forward role. The Royals striker is going to be one to watch this season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Utah Royals AZ started the campaign on the road in a tough battle against San Diego Surf. They gave the perennial favorite all they could handle in that game. She plays right center back for the Surf squad. She's got the all around game that appeals to the modern international level. She can do everything at a high level. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Surf squad does an excellent job building through her feet. She's got the decision-making quality of a center midfielder in the center back role. It likely won't appear on any highlights but she provided the key pass for the opening goal in the opening win for her squad. Her ability to pick out Charlotte Rodriguez and play a perfect pass through the line of pressure set her teammate up for success. Rodriguez matched the quality with a sublime assist of her own on Ayella Adams' goal. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Granger's defensive ability is off the charts as well. She is great at using her body to knock forwards off balance without committing the foul. She was one of five players from her squad her earned an invite to the upcoming US Soccer Talent ID event. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Tomarelli impressed in the opening win with her two-way play. She's excellent at finding pockets of space and progressing the ball up the field. Her close first touch and ability to receive the ball on the half turn opens up the game for her team. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Tomarelli provided a lot of key passes that generated chances for her side. She has the quality on the ball to suggest she will be a key player for a long time at the top level of the club game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
