Five Defenders to Know From the New Texas 2030 Girls Rankings

<p>After several months of research and scouting, Prep Soccer Texas is proud to release the newest version of its 2030 Girls State Rankings. The Rankings are a step forward from the previous original version, which had all players on a watch list; now the top 60 prospects in the Lone Star State are ranked by potential.</p>   <p>The rankings will continue to be consistently updated so they accurately reflect the progress achieved by players over time and present a clear picture of the Texas landscape, always keeping in mind each prospect's potential to make an impact at the next level.</p>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li><strong><a href="https://prepsoccer.com/texas/rankings/girls/2030-rankings/">Texas 2030 Girls State Rankings</a></strong></li> </ul>   <p>The new version of Texas 2030 Girls State Rankings feature 100 players from every corner of the Lone Star State, and we're taking the week to present you with some of the most intriguing names that made the list. These defenders are among the very best in the state.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Allen is the top-ranked defender in our Rankings and appears in fourth place overall. She attends Vandegrift High School in Austin and features for [program_tooltip program_id='342634' first='FC' last='Westlake'] in the ECNL League. A center back, she's fairly physical, has good athleticism and plays the position with incredible maturity and consistency. Allen has the ability to physically dominate most of the forwards who challenge her, but she also makes the most of her excellent defensive instincts, making good decisions that force them into turning the ball over or playing back. She plays her club soccer with Sting Black out of the Dallas area in the ECNL League. McIntosh does a good job of defending the penalty box, using her excellent positioning to get to the ball first and her physical tools to dominate opponents when she needs to. The center back is also very comfortable on the ball, stands out for her ability to connect line-breaking passes and deliver long balls with remarkable accuracy, while also showing the confidence to dribble it forward and step into the attacking half to make plays.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://www.instagram.com/reel/DM548-ERQIB/ </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Knight is featured as the 13th-best defender in the state and ranks 42nd overall in the age group. She plays high school soccer for The Woodlands in the Houston area and is part of the backline of [program_tooltip program_id='283282' first='Challenge' last='SC'] in the ECNL League. A physical center back, Knight is excellent at dominating the penalty box, standing out for her positioning to clear crosses and stop opponents as they get into dangerous areas. She attends Mansfield High School and is part of [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas']' squad in the ECNL League. A dynamic and hard-working wide player, she can play on both sides of the field, either as an outside back or a midfielder. Chappell has a strong offensive game and is a constant option for her teammates in the attacking half, making well-timed runs out wide that help her team stretch the field. The center back plays for Prosper's Richland at the high school level and features with [program_tooltip program_id='283317' first='[program_tooltip program_id='280767' first='DKSC' last='']' last=''] in the ECNL League. One of the team's captains, she plays a strong leadership role with them by both being vocal and setting the example. A lefty, Tuzzolino has good quality on the ball, plays a big role in their buildup, and can also be used as a defensive midfielder.
