Regardless, there are several intriguing matchups on the schedule — and one in particular has our attention.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Barça Residency Academy vs. LAFC Academy.</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Barça Residency was one of the most active programs on the recruiting trail this offseason, which naturally brings high expectations heading into the new campaign. This weekend, they travel into our Southern California region to take on LAFC Academy.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There are also some familiar faces making their return home.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Former TFA center back and 2025–26 MLS NEXT Cup champion <strong>Matthew Macedo</strong> will be returning to Southern California, while players such as <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='378043' first='Nico' last='Villanueva']</strong> will also be preparing for a homecoming.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>That makes this matchup especially interesting from a scouting perspective.
