Nevada Girls Academy season preview: Seven players to follow

<p>The Girls Academy Mountain West schedule gets underway Sept. 12 for the two clubs in Southern Nevada. Las Vegas Albion and [program_tooltip program_id='283674' first='Las' last='Vegas Sports Academy'] are both at home for two games, and it will be the first opportunity to see the squads in meaningful action after the age-group shakeup.<br>Both clubs have talented players at all levels who will make an impact. Here are seven players you need to know for the upcoming season.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">The left-footed Ascencio-Garcia orchestrates the offense in the middle of the park and has an accurate shot from long range on film. She was selected to the Girls Academy National Talent ID showcase for the 2011 age group last season and also earned an invitation to the U.S. Soccer talent ID center.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">She is one of the top goal scorers in Southern Nevada this season playing as a forward for her high school team after notching 25 goals as a junior. At the club level, Colbrook features in the midfield and was named to the Mountain West talent ID roster last season. She uses intelligent off-the-ball runs to find space and distribute to teammates.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">The high-energy midfielder is a two-time Class 5A state champion at the high school level and helped her club team to the U17 Girls Academy National Cup title in the summer. She has a clean first touch and shows an attacking mindset on film. She helped her high school capture the Utah 4A girls state soccer championship last season and is projected to be an impact player for the U17 Las Vegas Albion team after the age-group change.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">She was named the Class 5A goalie of the year as a junior for her high school team and helped the Las Vegas Albion 09GA side finish fourth in the Mountain West standings at 8-5-1. Marks moves well laterally to cover her goal and also distributes with precision out of the back. She often features in a deep-lying role where her strength and ability as a ball-winner is best utilized. The standout is committed to play at South Carolina Beaufort.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">The pacey attacker can play out wide or through the middle and was a Class 5A all-state selection as a junior for her high school. Sachs has nearly equaled her goal-scoring output from last season through the first eight games of the prep season. She is committed to North Dakota for next season.</p>    <p></p>
