Five midfielders breaking through in Colorado's 2029 Class

The Prep Soccer state ranking for the Colorado class of 2029 will be released next week. Prior the release of the new rankings, check out a scouting report on some of the players who have impressed from the state of the club season in the sophomore class. Mikolaj is a defensive midfielder on the [program_tooltip program_id='283300' first='Colorado' last='Storm'] U16 ECNL team. She can also play as a center back. She wears the captain's armband for her club team. Her leadership in the center of the field has been a key to her team's success so far this season. She's a well-rounded player in the No. 6 spot. She's a dynamic defender who is eager to get into the duel. She's smart about her positioning and does well in protecting the back four with her picking her spots to intercept the opposition. She's good on the ball. She'll put her foot on the ball and control the pace of the game. She values retaining possession for her side and plays with the intelligence of a coach on the field. Hough is a box-to-box midfielder on the [program_tooltip program_id='283723' first='Real' last='Colorado'] National U16 ECNL team. She was named to the ECNL All-Conference team last season. She's also been part of US Soccer Youth National Team camps in the past. Hough is an elite prospect in this class and one of the best in the state. She can do a bit of everything. The main attribute of her game that stands out over the season is her value in set pieces. She is a weapon in aerial duels. She's scored consistently - partly due to the remarkably excellent delivery from her teammates and partly due to her fearless approach to winning the header in the box. Hough covers a ton of ground during the game and is happy to do the hard work to help her team win. The competitive nature will make her a top player for scouts to circle in the 2029 group. Franchi is a defensive midfielder/center back on the [program_tooltip program_id='283723' first='Real' last='Colorado'] U16 ECNL team. We previously had her ranked in the 2028 rankings, but she is part of the 2029 class. She's a dual-sport athlete as she is also an excellent basketball player. She was named to the ECNL Texas Conference All-Conference Second Team last season. She's been playing at an equally high level during this season. She's always popping up on game film and making intelligent plays for her team. Bracken is a center back/midfielder on the [program_tooltip program_id='283300' first='Colorado' last='Storm'] U16 ECNL team. I could see also having a future in the outside back role. She's comfortable on the ball and excellent as a 1v1 defender. She's had strong performances in the box-to-box midfield role. She has an unlimited engine, knack for getting to the right spots to support her teammates, and a command of the field. Bracken had strong showings at center back as well. She uses her body well in the duel and can match up with any type of striker. Her versatility will make her an enticing prospect from this group. Kellner has been outstanding this season in the [program_tooltip program_id='283301' first='Colorado' last='United'] U16 Girls Academy midfield. She's found ways to impact the game in a variety of ways. She's previously been called up to Girls Academy Talent ID events. She's also a dual-sport athlete (lacrosse). I love the pace that Kellner plays at. She makes quick decisions and forces the opposition to match her level. It's that type of play that dictates the game for her side. She brings chances with her passing and movement off the ball. Kellner has been key to her squad's success in the Girls Academy this season and should be one to watch in the future.
