Powenski reads the game like a chess player always thinking one move ahead. She excels at intercepting danger early and transforming defense into organized build-up. When in possession, she keeps her team’s shape intact, distributing with clarity and composure. Her adaptability makes her invaluable across multiple systems.

Huge score for Colgate University as they land a very talented player in Powenski coming from an excellent Penn Fusion club and 2009 team. I do have some style of play concerns with this one but if they can make it work Powenski has a chance to transfer to a contender after a couple of seasons.

Powenski, a sophomore who plays for Penn Fusion ECNL 09, was dominant as the holding central midfielder for Westtown. She won the majority of her 50-50 battles and many aerial duels. Powenski also made a brilliant individual run late in the game with her shot rattling the crossbar.

Eliana’s performance against Beach FC was something special. A goal and an assist in the opening 10 minutes set the tone for the game. Looking back at previous notes, I’d seen Powenski play in a defensive midfield role. She was utilized in a wide midfield role in Washington as well, which showcased her elite attacking talents. Powenski is a versatile player who is a top talent in this group. Kylie Berk, Julia Rick, and Brianna Young were also standouts for Penn Fusion.

Powenski is a defensive midfielder for Penn Fusion. There is a lot to like about Powenski’s game. It starts with her on-ball qualities. Her skill on the ball is definitely noteworthy for the position. She is smooth in her movement and confident on either foot – I’m guessing she is a good indoor soccer player. She can get a bit brazen with possession and try to take on too many players. Even with the occasional dazzling displays, Powenski offers a quality to progress the ball up the field that not many players in that role do successfully consistently. Defensively, she’s tough to beat. She moves her feet well and rarely gets caught on her heels. She has big time potential.
