Headed to UC Irvine the young Rebels defender is staying pretty close to home. She looks really good at the ECNL RL level. I definitely think this is a long term project who will have to get used to the speed of play before making an impact. Could be a big time contributor down the road as she has a ton of potential.

Maldonado represents the technical excellence that Rebels SC is known for. Her first touch and passing range are exceptional, allowing her to build attacks from deep positions. She possesses the pace to recover defensively and the technical skills to beat players 1v1 in the final third. Her ability to cut inside and create opportunities with her left foot adds another dimension to her attacking play.
What makes Maldonado special is her stamina and consistency – she can maintain high-intensity performance for 90 minutes while rarely making positional errors. This has been on full display during their playoffs run for ECNL-RL, her team scheduled to play in the Championship match 9/15 in Virginia. https://team1sports.com/ecnltv/ She plays the entire 90 minutes and was able to record 2 assists in the semi final match up to help send her team to the big game.

The wingback was a constant menace down the flank, providing the perfect complement to the Rebels’ defensive foundation with her exceptional pace and technical ability. Maldonado demonstrated excellent positional awareness, knowing exactly when to tuck inside to form a back three and when to bomb forward on overlapping runs. Her recovery pace was elite-level, consistently winning foot races back to goal when caught out of position. What made her so dangerous was her ability to time her forward runs perfectly, arriving in advanced positions just as play developed to provide width and stretch the opposition’s defensive shape. Her crossing ability from wide areas was a consistent threat, delivering dangerous balls into the box with both pace and precision. Defensively, Maldonado showed excellent 1v1 defending skills, using her acceleration to close down space quickly and her body positioning to force attackers onto their weaker foot. She was disciplined in her defensive duties, rarely getting caught ball-watching and always maintaining her shape within the defensive line. Her distribution from the back was crisp and purposeful, rarely giving the ball away cheaply and often starting attacking moves with quick switches of play. Maldonado’s stamina was remarkable – she covered massive amounts of ground up and down the touchline without her performance levels dropping, making her a nightmare for opposing wingers who had to track her runs for 90 minutes. Her overlapping runs and defensive recovery speed gave Rebels SC the tactical flexibility that proved crucial in tight playoff matches, allowing them to maintain their defensive solidity while still providing an attacking outlet down the flank.

Eastlake High School
Holding midfielder

Let’s address the elephant in the room—that ECNL RL tag. While many players get overlooked with these two letters next to their name, Maldonado is TEARING UP THE SCRIPT with pure grit, skill, and a motor that never quits.
Walking into an Eastlake program stacked with 16 seniors and ECNL talent, this junior bulldozed her way into the starting XI with performances that left her coach with ZERO alternatives. In a school renowned as a hotbed for top-tier talent, standing out takes something special—and Maldonado delivers in spades.
As the anchor in midfield, she orchestrated Eastlake’s PERFECT league campaign and deep Open Division CIF playoff run with the composure of a seasoned pro. What sets her apart is her press-resistance—confronted with high-pressure situations against elite opposition, Maldonado remains cool as ice, recycling possession with the vision of a chess grandmaster.
Her effectiveness as a 6 is a masterclass in spatial awareness—commanding her zone with authority and shutting down attacking threats before they materialize. This midfield general transitions her dominance seamlessly to club level, where her RL squad currently sits ATOP the league table. College scouts take note: sometimes the most impactful talents don’t always come with the flashiest club badges.
