Rankings Analysis: Florida Forwards to Know

The Florida rankings highlight a number of great prospects among the forward position from ECNL, Girls Academy, and other club leagues. She is a winger with pace and skill. I saw her play on the left wing. She is right-footed, but capable with either foot, which is why I think she lines up on the left. She uses that dexterity to cut inside when the defender gives the space. She is a nifty dribbler with some clever moves and skills. The potential is clearly there, which is the exciting part, but she doesn't string it all together consistently enough to make that leap into the next tier of prospects. Swart is one of the best track athletes in the country with a speciality in hurdles from short to mid-range distance. She recently ran a 1:05.38 in the 400M hurdles. That puts her in some elite company. Her 100M time was also very impressive at 14.65. On the field, that speed shines. She has destroyed some ECNL defenses this season. Even when she is crowded and playing against a low-block, Swart still found ways to score. She strikes the ball well and has good skill to keep control under pressure. She is a dynamic player who is always looking to get forward, but still takes her defensive responsibilities seriously. She did well with a slide tackle to stop an attack from the opposition. I think she's better on the wing, but there is room for her to develop into a standout in the center forward role. She is quick - both in the open field and with her feet in tight spaces. She can dribble and cut past players with ease. She is very dangerous in 1v1 situations which shows her asset for the team. She is an attacking talent on the IMG Academy team. She has been invited to the Girls Academy Talent ID and US Soccer Regional ID events. She has the tools to be a difference-maker at the highest levels of the youth game. She can play as a center forward, support striker, or attacking midfielder. Her best attribute is her dribbling. She keeps close control of the ball even while under pressure. She is good with either foot too. She is a good finisher, but could improve on that aspect of her game. Her movement and runs off the ball in the attack are very good when she is on the wing. She times her runs well and plays off the shoulder of the last defender. When she is on goal, she is not going to be caught. She has pace and a long stride. She is a calm finisher who will dribble around the keeper when the opportunity presents itself. As an attacking midfielder, her vision and passing shine bright. She is one of the best passers - in both her vision and ball-striking technique for passing. She is a physical on-ball defender. Her off-ball activity defensively could improve - she definitely seems to prefer scoring than defending. She is a winger who offers an high-level all-around game. She is a good finisher for the position with the capability of burying a shot from a tight angle. She is also a weapon in aerial duels.
