<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here's a look at my Top 30 Boys High School teams in Chicagoland after the opening week of play.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:table --> <figure class="wp-block-table"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Rank</strong></td><td><strong>School</strong></td><td><strong>Record</strong></td><td><strong>Notes</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>1</strong></td><td><strong>Elgin</strong></td><td>2-0</td><td>A pair of solid wins over Glenbard East and Rockford Guilford. Five players have scored so far while the defense has failed to concede.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>2</strong></td><td><strong>Morton</strong></td><td>1-0</td><td>Pulled off an opening-day shocker over the defending 3A champs, Naperville Central. Max Aquino scored the games lone goal. The Mustangs never rebuild. </td></tr><tr><td><strong>3</strong></td><td><strong>Bloom</strong></td><td>3-0</td><td>The exact start the Trojans wanted. Junior F Omar Ortiz has been electric with five goals so far. </td></tr><tr><td><strong>4</strong></td><td><strong>West Chicago</strong></td><td>2-0</td><td>Surprised everyone with a 5-2 thrashing of Naperville North. Midfielder Rafael Posada has been electrifying with three goals and two assists so far.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>5</strong></td><td><strong>New Trier</strong></td><td>2-0</td><td>Two impressive wins over Conant and Grayslake Central.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>6</strong></td><td><strong>Romeoville</strong></td><td>3-0</td><td>Cruised to the Glenbard South tourney title. Outscored opponents 26-1 in that stretch.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>7</strong></td><td><strong>York</strong></td><td>1-0</td><td>Early win over Wheaton North.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>8</strong></td><td><strong>Lyons</strong></td><td>2-0</td><td>A pair of early wins over Sandburg and Round Lake.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>9</strong></td><td><strong>St. Charles North</strong></td><td>2-0</td><td>Alex Curtis has been rock solid in goal. Walter Delapaz has scored thrice so far.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>10</strong></td><td><strong>St. Charles East</strong></td><td>2-0</td><td>Saints marched to two solid wins last week. Look out for senior forward Ryan Groselak.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>11</strong></td><td><strong>Naperville North</strong></td><td>0-1</td><td>An early loss to West Chicago should not undermine the talent on this roster. </td></tr><tr><td><strong>12</strong></td><td><strong>OPRF</strong></td><td>2-0</td><td>Beat Ignatius and Willowbrook</td></tr><tr><td><strong>13</strong></td><td><strong>Whitney Young</strong></td><td>2-0</td><td>Shocked everyone with a 4-0 win over Hinsdale Central. John Stanton and [player_tooltip player_id='11242' first='Reese' last='Kruschke'] each with two goals.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>14</strong></td><td><strong>Naperville Central</strong></td><td>0-1-1</td><td>Similar to Naperville North. Still so much talent and a long season ahead. </td></tr><tr><td><strong>15</strong></td><td><strong>Neuqua Valley</strong></td><td>5-0</td><td>An electrifying start to the season. Senior Parker Kurtenbach has excelled in the midfield.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>16</strong></td><td><strong>Solorio</strong></td><td>3-0</td><td>Great start for another CPS power with wins over Shepard and Lockport. </td></tr><tr><td><strong>17</strong></td><td><strong>Conant</strong></td><td>0-1</td><td>Tough loss to New Trier. </td></tr><tr><td><strong>18</strong></td><td><strong>Mt Carmel</strong></td><td>0-0</td><td>Season begins Monday vs Glenbrook South</td></tr><tr><td><strong>19</strong></td><td><strong>Marmion</strong></td><td>1-0</td><td>Took down Geneva in thrilling matchup</td></tr><tr><td><strong>20</strong></td><td><strong>Stevenson</strong></td><td>2-0</td><td>Two unsurprising wins. Will face St. Pats Tuesday.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>21</strong></td><td><strong>Glenbrook North</strong></td><td>2-0</td><td>Beat Lane</td></tr><tr><td><strong>22</strong></td><td><strong>Grayslake Central</strong></td><td>0-1</td><td>Took an early loss to New Trier. But still plenty of optimism</td></tr><tr><td><strong>23</strong></td><td><strong>Benet</strong></td><td>0-1-1</td><td>Not the start they were looking for. Still ESCC favorites with a long way to go.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>24</strong></td><td><strong>Hinsdale Central</strong></td><td>1-1-1</td><td>Blown out by Young.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>25</strong></td><td><strong>Evanston</strong></td><td>3-0</td><td>Nice start for the Wildkits. Pascal Colonges has played really well</td></tr><tr><td><strong>26</strong></td><td><strong>Lake Zurich</strong></td><td>1-0</td><td>Strong early win against Fremd. Cameron Williams scores twice</td></tr><tr><td><strong>27</strong></td><td><strong>Plainfield North</strong></td><td>1-1</td><td>Tigers have shown they can compete.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>28</strong></td><td><strong>Waubonsie Valley</strong></td><td>2-1</td><td>Upset Benet at home to begin the year. Also beat Oswego East.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>29</strong></td><td><strong>West Aurora</strong></td><td>2-0</td><td>Defense excelling. Beat Batavia and Rockford East</td></tr><tr><td><strong>30</strong></td><td><strong>Lockport</strong></td><td>2-1</td><td>Two uncompetitive wins before losing to Solorio</td></tr></tbody></table></figure> <!-- /wp:table --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Look Out For</strong>: Bolingbrook, DePaul Prep, Huntley, Lane, Libertyville, Notre Dame, Oswego, Oswego East, Prospect, Shepard, Stagg, St. Ignatius, St. Laurence, St. Patrick, Wheaton Academy, </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
