Bernstein was instrumental in Union’s Quarterfinal win over Vancouver, putting in crosses and combinations along the wing to start the match, and then later shifting more centrally when Union went down to 10 men to help command the center of the pitch. He was involved in Union’s first goal, with his corralling of the ball from his chest down to his oncoming teammate setting the stage for the score merely a few seconds later.

One of the my favorite academy prospects when he was younger, Bernstein has been hit badly with the injury bug over the past couple years so it’s been great to see him not only playing but making an impact both from open play and on set plays for the Union U17s. He scored an Olimpico (with a little help from the wind) and has been impressing much the way he did when he was younger with his soccer IQ and two-way play.
