<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Girls Academy Soccer League is approaching the end of its fall season and, after two months of competition, some of the best teams in the country are already in great form.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Saturday, November 4, I went to The Woodlands, Texas, to watch two of the best teams in the U15 Age Group in the Frontier Conference, Texas' HTX G09 GA and Missouri's Lou Fusz G09 GA - check out the best photos of the match <a href="https://prepsoccer.com/2023/11/girls-academy-frontier-htx-09-vs-lou-fusz-09-photos/">here</a>.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>HTX G09 GA 2 - 2 Lou Fusz G09 GA</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Playing at home, HTX had the initiative in the first half and created good chances on the left side with [player_tooltip player_id='331756' first='Harper' last='Montgomery'] and [player_tooltip player_id='148498' first='Hallie' last='Montgomery']. In one of them, Harper sent the ball into the penalty box and Alexis Baker picked it up to score from close range. In the first, the forward got a great pass from Bailey Lucas, dribbled the goalkeeper and finished to an open net. The second goal was a beautiful one as Brawner received a through ball on the right, brought it to her left foot and hit the upper corner. Trailing HTX pushed forward and got the equalizer in the final minutes. The defender played a solid match from start to finish and wasn't to blame for any of Lou Fusz's goals. Very quick and active, she was very dangerous in 1v1 situations and managed to take the ball to the end line on several occasions. A lefty, Baker has great quality on the ball and has the ability to help the team in different ways. She was well-positioned in her goal, scoring with an easy tap-in, but also displayed great ability to operate outside the penalty box. Miller used her height to dominate in the air, but also displayed great positioning and reading of the game, reacting quickly to cover her teammates on multiple occasions. She displayed a very complete game up top, getting the ball behind the backline and also dropping back to combine and make plays. Brawner occupied HTX's center backs during the entire match with her movement and always found good spots to get on the ball. The striker displayed great calm in front of the goal to dribble the keeper before scoring her first goal and a lot of confidence and great decision-making to score the second in a difficult play.
