Below is the scouting report on some of the midfielders to know from this class.
Miller is a midfielder on the Internationals 09 ECNL team. She plays as the defensive midfielder for her club team. She is right footed. She offers a good physical frame and athleticism for the position. She is a key player on her team – both with her quality on the ball and with her tactical approach. Miller likes to control the pace of the game and will put her foot on the ball to slow down play when she thinks it’s the right choice to make. She could improve on her strength as she was bumped off the ball once or twice in a recent game. Miller is an excellent passer and plays with her head up. She can contribute key passes during the game, but she tends to play the pass that will allow her team to retain possession. Miller is a terrific prospect for the position.
Kelleher is a midfielder on the Ohio Elite 08 SA ECNL team. She plays defensive midfield for her club team. There is a lot to love about her game. She reads the game well and anticipates the action so she is seemingly always in the right spot. She shined against the top competition in recent National Events. When she is near the ball, she can put in a tackle and shut down the movement of the opposition. On the ball, she is quick to make decisions and gets the ball moving to her teammates with accurate passes. Kelleher has been outstanding during this ECNL season and should be considered among the best midfielders in this class.
Brandon is a midfielder on Kings Hammer 09 ECNL and CUP GA 09. She plays as a defensive or box-to-box midfielder. She has good tactical awareness. She does well scanning the field and always checks her shoulders before receiving the ball. She is physical and uses her body well to shield players off the ball – especially in situations where it is a 50/50 ball in the midfield or a bouncing ball that no one has control over yet. Brandon can get caught on her heels at times. When she’s on the ball, she’s very good. I’d love to see her be more demonstrative in demanding the ball from her teammates and getting more touches early on to set the tone in the game. She has the technical foundation to shine at the highest levels of the club game.
Rodriguez is a midfielder on the Ohio Premier 09 ECNL team. Rodriguez is a boss on the field. She dictates the game with her quality on the ball and she astute tackling. She is tactically very advanced for her age. She reads the game well and seems to always be in the right spots. Rodriguez is a fluid athlete and had a couple of audacious attempts at getting on the end of crosses from recent ECNL games. She can play as a box-to-box midfielder or as an attacking midfielder. She is one of the best in this region in either role.
