The younger age groups were full of fierce competition as teams fought for an opening day result. Check out the players who stood out from the games Prep Soccer saw on Sunday.

Lola-Iris Ta, FC Dallas 2009 - The FC Dallas goalkeeper earned the victory against Match Fit Academy on Sunday. She was in net for a 1-0 result. At the start of the game, she came up with some brilliant tip saves. At the end of the game, she did exceptionally well on crosses and organizing the defense to see out the result. She was the Player of the Game for me.

Jordyn Sullivan, Match Fit Academy 2009 - Sullivan is a terrific winger. She showed off her dribbling skill and pace against a strong FC Dallas backline. She was the threat for Match Fit among the outside channels. She got to the end line and put in some service for her teammates. With her quick feet and confident play to keep her head up under pressure, Sullivan has the tools to be a top player in this age group.

Kennedy Wallace, Match Fit Academy 2009 - Wallace was a standout in the midfield for MFA. She helped control the center of the field. Despite coming up on the losing side, MFA had the better of run of play for long stretches of the game. Wallace's effort and positioning was a major reason why.

Gianna Hanf, Match Fit Academy 2009 - Hanf was another bright spot for MFA. She showed off excellent ball striking ability and a good understanding of the game as she was utilized as a winger and a midfielder.

Trinity Morrow, FC Dallas 2009 - Morrow was outstanding at center back for FC Dallas. The shutout victory was in large part due to her play as she did a lot of work to keep Match Fit at bay and limit the chances on goal.

Gray Rideaux, FC Dallas 2009 - Rideaux was the other part of that spectacular FC Dallas center back pairing. She cleaned up everything and shut the down on chance after chance for Match Fit.

Layla Iglesias, FC Dallas 2009 - Iglesias determination really showed on Sunday as she created chances for herself with limited service. She found the ball and ran through tackles in her commitment to help her side.

Taylor Morrell, VDA 2009 - Morrell scored two goals as VDA grabbed a 3-2 win over UFA on Sunday. The winger was an unstoppable force and absolutely brilliant for her side in the victory.

Kyah Smith, VDA 2009- Smith was another piece of the VDA attack that impressed on Sunday. She did so well in spinning off attackers and creating chances with those opportunities. Delainey Duggan was also a standout for VDA. She scored the other goal on the day.

Reed Tingley, UFA 2009 - Tingley scored both of the goals for UFA in the first half on Sunday. The winger was impressive in her defensive work. She pressed with enthusiasm and created chances with that work. The best part about Tingley's game was the belief. She went into every duel as if she was going to win the ball and immediately get to goal. When that did happen, she wasted no time in executing her vision. It resulted in one goal. She scored the other goal on a penalty kick after Maya Buerger was fouled.

Makena Cook, Slammers FC HB Koge 2009 - Cook assisted the lone goal in the 1-0 result over Ohio Elite SA. The center forward was in a scrappy battle all game against the stout Ohio defense. She did not shy away from any challenge.

Charlotte Kamansky, Slammers FC HB Koge 2009 - Kamansky scored the lone goal in the 1-0 win over Ohio Elite SA off an assist from Cook. She was effective throughout the game in a tight battle.

Kaitlyn Cook, Slammers FC HB Koge 2009 - The Slammers Koge center back had nearly a perfect game on Sunday. It felt like she was mistake free and the Ohio opposition did not have many ideas on how to beat her when she was on her game like she was on the day. Cook and Laney Brucker were outstanding in the defense.

Willow Hutchins, Slammers FC HB Koge 2009 - I thought Hutchins had an outstanding outing for Slammers. It takes a full team effort to record a shutout at this level and the outside back gave her all in the win over Ohio Elite.

Stella Adler, Slammers FC HB Koge 2009 - The Slammers FC HB Koge goalkeeper did well in playing off her line and securing the ball whenever it was played over the top. The active approach closed off an option for Ohio and her confidence off the line was a real asset. I didn't note her with any big saves, but she was consistently good when needed.

Charlotte Kamansky, Ohio Elite SA 2009 - Kamansky is a no-mistake type of center back. She can tend to play a bit cautious as the last line of defense, but it works for her. She doesn't make mistakes and does well in organizing the other defenders. There were countless times when she made a terrific defense play to stop the Slammers attack. Parker Evans was also very good for Ohio Elite on the day.

Virginia Vollmer, Ohio Elite SA 2009 - Vollmer made a number of saves in the tight 0-1 result against Slammers FC HB Koge. She had a good game overall including some excellent distribution.
