Thompson is one of those players who pops off the screen from game film at the ECNL level, which is a pretty safe sign she will be a top talent at the next level too. She is a defensive midfielder on the Sting Austin 2010 ECNL team. She is an active tackler who does exceptionally well in using her body to gain possession of the ball after poking it away from the opposition. Thompson does well in retaining possession as she quickly scans for teammates and makes the correct decision. She’s a midfielder who won’t get stuck on playing the direction she is facing when making the next pass. Thompson shines next to talented players and elevates her teammates, which is a reason she wears the captain’s armband for her club team.
