2008 MLSNext Northwest Conference Pre-Season First Team

The top ranked team in the country from last year's regular season Sac Republic has lost a ton of players to MLS Academies around the country. So it would seem that this conference has become wide open again. His speed, strength, and finishing are his elite traits. He can play anywhere along the front line. He's a load for opposition defenders as he can post up and run in behind with equal effect. He seems to be flying under the radar even though his production has been exceptional. I haven't come across a kid who scores more goals from midfield then Thum. His production is undeniable. Thum had a ton of offers to join other MLS Academies around the country and decided to stay close to home and join the Quakes. His ability to find holes in defenses is class and he combines with teammates exceptionally. He has made his way over to Ballistic United this year and they will be glad he did. He's a tough defender who will put his body on the line for his team. He is very good in possession and his passing range is superb. Not scared to shoot from distance and Goalies better be on their toes when he does. His coaches seem to prefer playing him at outside back but I think he'd thrive just as much as a winger. He beats guys on the dribble for fun and can deliver a cross or shot with both feet. His timing when making tackles is superb.
