About Thomas

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I have a strong shot blocking capability, but have recently been used more as an extra man in the backfield. Playing with my feet is something I am growing around and look forward to continuing. I have good communication and organization. Scanning the field is a skill I use in order to know my whereabouts within games. I also have the ability to recognize counter attacks before they occur.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a very positive personality. All though I can sometimes I am hard on myself, I am not one to drag my teammates through the dirt. I keep the team spirit positive through trainings and games. Listening and learning from sports psychologist over the years has helped me grow as a person and player and is definitely something I plan on continuing to do.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am currently in SCA and DECA. In middle school I was in NJHS and am hoping to get in next year (11th grade). I have received multiple Merit Awards at my school for going out of my way to help make the school a better environment for my peers.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have an upbringing personality. Being positive and keeping my teammates mentality up and not bringing them down with me has been a trait I am glad to have. In school I am also relied on by the teacher heavily to assist them with needs. I am also a great teammate in school and in sports, hearing everyone’s voice or opinion in group work is something I find important.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Transitioning teams brought challenges. In the past I was mostly relied on as a shot blocking goalkeeper. Once I transitioned to my new team, I quickly found out I needed to put in additional work outside of practice so I would be able to keep up with the play style of this team. Working outside of practice on these areas of my game has truly made me a better player.

What type of college are you looking for?

Small-large size student body. I am willing to leave Virginia. I am also still finding out features I like about college campuses.
