In the HS 2A/1A classification the midfielder is the toughest position on the pitch, and it is the most difficult for teams to find top talent. You're truly looking for diamonds in the rough.
The midfield position is not for the weak. It is for the athletes who grind day in and day out to show out for their team, their school and their community. You will find these ladies working their magic from 18 to 18, touchline to touchline just looking for those small windows to make positive impacts. At this level you may only have a handful of players getting ready to make that next move to college. However, while they are seemingly focused on accomplishing their own goals, they are knowingly bringing up an entire team and showing them how to compete and win. These are the lasting bonds that are forged through leadership and passion for your craft. You need those unique talents at the smaller HS classifications and the PNW is stocked.

Relentless is the first word you think of when watching Samantha operate. Her physicality is not stifled by her smaller stature and if anything, she uses it to her advantage. Ryan consistently distributes excellently weighted passes into space to build attacks. Samantha has a commanding shot that is unexpected and adds accuracy that also makes her a dangerous attacker. She has no problem utilizing her hops to get to a header and her off ball movements are crisp and calculated. This HS junior has the tools to play on Thursdays and Sundays at the next level. Samantha and her Eastside Prep Eagles have a real shot at the 1A State Title in 2024 if their quality play continues.

Ariana is a presence in the middle of the pitch. She is a strong, physical athlete who demands attention from her opponents. When left unmarked, she will make the defense pay with powerful shots and timely passes. Lopez plays like a veteran and lets her game speak for itself. The junior midfielder was one of the top goal scorers in the conference but unfortunately the Red Devils missed the State Tournament by one game this season. Look for Ariana and East Valley to come back stronger in her senior season and make that State Title run.

Lucy uses her small frame well to maneuver throughout the midfield. Her bread and butter is her ability to distribute effectively. Carrel has good vision and anticipates player movements skillfully to find the best passing lanes. Instead of using brute force she uses quickness to gain advantages and dispossess attackers. Lucy and her Bellevue Christian Vikings are hoping to take their #3 seed deep into the State Tourney.

Vysotskiy is a dynamic player who is just as good on the attack as she is dropping into defense. She uses her speed, and skill moves to break down her opponents who have difficulty marking her while keeping up with her stamina. The sophomore midfielder pushes out to a winger role often to assist in the attack. She is most dangerous from the outside and plays quality balls into the area. The Trojans will need Dariya to be at her best while they navigate some top competition in the 2A State Tournament.
