Six breakout stars from the New Jersey high school season

The Prep Soccer state rankings for the New Jersey 2028 class came out last week. <a href="https://prepsoccer.com/2024/10/updated-2028-new-jersey-girl-rankings/">Check out the rankings here</a>. Learn more about<a href="https://prepsoccer.com/how-we-rank/"> our ranking process here. </a>   During the scouting efforts for this class, there were a number of new names to stood out to scouts from the high school campaign. Some of those players will be in the New Jersey 2027 rankings, which will be updated soon. Others will be included in other state rankings, as they play for clubs in other states. Below is a scouting report on some of the top talent from the New Jersey high school soccer scene.    I originally watched film on Rutgers Prep for some new names in the 2028 rankings, but the impact of O'Neill became undeniable after a short amount of time. It's incredibly frustrating playing against O'Neill. When so much of the game is dictated on mistakes and defensive breakdowns, she never makes them and often cleans up immediately for a teammate if they do happen for her side. She does so well at getting herself in the way of the play. If interceptions were recorded as a stat, she would likely lead the state. She is a major reason why Rutgers Prep has nine shutouts this season among 15 games. O'Neill has elevated her game as a sophomore and should go into the club season playing with a ton of confidence.     Olkowski would be one of the top ranked players in the New Jersey state rankings but she moved clubs this off-season and is now part of our Pennsylvania rankings even though she lives in New Jersey. The Prep Soccer rankings use the player's club location for the rankings. As for the player, there is a lot to love about her game and a major reason why she will be in our national rankings. Olkowski's play for Shawnee during the high school season makes me believe she is in line to be a top talent in the ECNL during the 2024/2025 season. The attacking talent has earned all the plaudits this season at the high school level. Skillful, determined, and athletic, the attributes jump off the screen from game film. Olkowski is an ideal attacking midfielder for a high pressing style of play. She covers a ton of ground in the game and makes darting runs behind the defense. When she is in free space, she is an efficient finisher. She's got a clean touch and rarely lets the ball get caught on her feet. Her ability to keep the ball under her control while dancing around defenders and having defenders try to hold onto her drastically stands out compared to most players at the high school level. She is a top talent from the 2027 class and she is leading her high school to another stellar season.       Harrington is a forward/midfielder on the CSA Bergen 09 GA team. She is a top attacking talent in the state and has been outstanding during the high school season. She is a powerful dribbler who is not afraid to take on players. She has a lethal right foot with a canon for a leg. She can bury a shot from over 30 yards out. Harrington has the pace to get behind the defense and the skill to create chances for her teammates. She is an ideal support striker at the next level.      Midfielder on the SJEB FC Girls Academy 09 team. She was part of the Girls Academy Mid-Atlantic Talent ID event last season. She is a confident player who keeps her head up and scans the field. She is strong in the tackle and shows excellent technique in the duels. She is a multi-sport athlete and some of those traits from other sports show on the soccer field. Tinges has potential as a college level player. She is an excellent passer from the midfield role. She is comfortable on the ball and can break pressure. Tinges has shown the quality to be considered among the best in her position in this class.      Jablonski is enjoying a stellar campaign at the high school level. She is leading scorer on her team. She is marked player too, as the opposition tends to key in on her as the player to mark. She is still creating chances for herself - either off the ball with her movement, putting pressure defensively in the key spots, or just beating players on the dribble. Jablonski has shown she can be an impact player at the top levels.      Vince is having a breakout season for Ocean City. She is one of the top scorers for that team. While her contributions at the high school level have featured a lot of her skill in the attack, her play at the club level suggest a future at the outside back position. She is a terrific 1v1 defender. Quick on her feet and sharp in the tackle, Vince looks like a dream candidate as a wingback.      Kintzing is a forward from SJEB 09 GA and Paul VI varsity. She is a center forward or winger. I think her skills translate well to the center forward/striker position. She has the strength to play with her back to the goal. She is very good in the link up play as she has a knack for the timing of the pass when her teammates use her for combination play. Kintzing is a good finisher with either foot. She has endurance too and wears defenders down over the course of a game. Kintzing has been a bright spot of the high school season as one of the top forwards in New Jersey's sophomore class.
