The #112 ranked team in CA, the Pioneer Mustangs went up against Leigh Longhorns, the #7 ranked team in CA and #27 in the nation. The impressive team records and Intense play from both sides made this match one of the best I've seen this year.&nbsp; The Mustangs (#2 in league) and 10-0 overall came in with the intentions of beating the #1 team (2-0 in league) and 8-0-1.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Longhorns were led by senior midfielder and UC-San Diego commit [player_tooltip player_id='19715' first='Kennadi' last='Borg'].&nbsp; The midfielder was a key part of the Leigh attack.&nbsp; Setting up runners in the channels and tracking runners trying to find lanes in the middle.&nbsp; Especially during the second half, Borg and the longhorns seized control of possession and kept attacking wave after wave.&nbsp; The junior forward and North Carolina commit, [player_tooltip player_id='111251' first='Maggie' last='Currie'] put on a show highlighting her skills as the #10 player in her class and #4 in position.&nbsp; Every time she received the ball, she kept the crowd on their heels as she had the ability to break games wide open.&nbsp; Her calculative moves, quick change of gear, and her explosive runs was a sight to see.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This game had the makings of a blowout, but if it wasn't for the senior goalkeeper [player_tooltip player_id='228414' first='Ally' last='Harrison'] and Santa Clara commit, Leigh would have been up at least by 3 goals.&nbsp; The #4 ranked goalkeeper put on a stellar performance.&nbsp; Harrison made multiple saves up top, cut off attacking angles, and shutdown players during one on one runs in the box.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The game ended with a 1-1 tie as the Longhorns fell behind in the first half due to an own goal.&nbsp; The goal to make it a draw came on a beautiful header by freshman forward [player_tooltip player_id='111131' first='Shani' last='Outlaw'].&nbsp; As the ball ricocheted downwards off the crossbar and bounced off the turf, Outlaw hit it with a first touch to bury it in the back of the net.&nbsp; This game which resembled an All-Star or top tier club match was filled with top level players across the field.<br>Next up for HC Justin Stopps and Pioneer is to keep this momentum going and try to make it as one of the top three teams in their division.&nbsp; Both teams are representatives of the Mt.
