It is summertime here in Seattle, but you may get to experience the clouds and even some possible rain drops if you're looking for the true experience. The PNW wouldn't want it any other way for our out-of-town soccer guests. That was unfortunately the case for most of the day here at the 60 acres complex in Redmond, WA (minus the rain). However, the morning cloud cover and intermittent cool breeze throughout the day, did not have ANY effect on the solid performances displayed by many of the athletes and clubs today.

The U13 (B12) and U14 (B11) boys don't kick off until tomorrow but the rest of the age groups battled all day. There was exciting last second goals in group play and thrilling PK shootouts to advance U18/U19's to the next round in bracket play. You couldn't ask for more.

Here are some of the top performances during Day 1:

Benjamin was a force in the midfield during Day 1 of the ECNL Playoffs. He possesses well in the midfield and has great field vision. Dull has shifty moves that allows him to elude 1v1 opponents while also providing quality distributions while moving into open spaces. Benjamin was able to shed the physical play of NC Fusion and help lead his team to a 3-0 win. Pipeline SC is sitting at the top of Group A and will be difficult to beat moving forward.

Jenkins helped lead the defense to an upset against #10 ranked Albion SC Colorado. Devin was pivotal in organizing the defense and midfield with fantastic communication from the CB position. He has a physical presence in the box and produces timely clearances. The Cal Poly commit is a dynamic player and will look to lead the Legends FC past the next round in bracket play. The Legends will take on Mustang SC in the round of 16 on June 26th.

Asher was a key piece in the win versus the #32 ranked Cleveland Force SC. Moore placed himself into physical challenges at all points of the pitch. He has the strength to gain leverage on opponents and the skill to win possession in 50/50 situations. Asher is a quick player with nice burst speed with the ball at his feet. He has fantastic touch and quality passes into space. Moore wore the captain's arm band which was fitting because he was leading his team to victory from the first whistle. Asher and his squad will have a couple days rest before they take on a talented Davis Legacy team on the 27th.

Rossiter is a dynamic defender who travels up and down the touchline with elite stamina and endurance. He found himself in both the attacking and defending 3rd from the right side and was dangerous in both. Shane locked down attackers on the defensive side and was able to produce high level crosses while transitioning to the attack. He has a silky-smooth touch and elite level feints. His SUSA FC team came up short in the battle versus the higher seeded Chicago Magic, but they will look to bounce back versus a skillful Match Fit Academy in two days.

Parker is a tall, athletic forward who has sneaky speed and quickness that defenses have trouble containing at times. He has a 'never give up' mentality and pushes himself on every play. Calender uses his height in the box well and judges ball flight exceptionally. Parker secured the draw with a timely goal versus NCFC Youth Academy in the waning minutes because of his elite soccer IQ and hustle. EFC will take on the Group B leader next for what should be a great match.

Day 1 was full of stellar performances and amazing results.
