About Owen

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a true box to box 8. 2 footed and very technical. I play 6,8 and 10 regularly. I have played FB, CB, Wing and 9 also. I love both sides of the game so playing other positions is fine for me. Local clubs and schools play very direct. I have played possession based soccer also and it fits my game well. I play like Kimmich or NGolo Kante. Hard pressure and physical, pass first nature.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m very calm and quiet outside of soccer. I’m vocal and aggressive in games and practice. I hate losing but I’m over it 30 minutes after a game. I have learned how to control my emotions well this year after struggling with it in the past. I’m really intense and used to get too worked up but I managed to find a good balance this year. I’m a team player, enjoy my teammates and I enjoy playing

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I was just invited to a sports leadership council for our high school league. I’m a sophomore and it’s a great honor. I have awards for volunteer work and charity work through my school. School leadership awards also.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I spent 3 weeks at a military camp in simulated basic training this summer. It was an amazing experience. I was elected to be our platoon leader. I’m going back next summer for 2 weeks of leadership training and 2 weeks of simulated Army Ranger training. I love to work and challenge myself and I am interested in attending a military academy for college.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

ADD, changing clubs and teams a few times. The ADD was getting more obvious as I got older. It was limiting the consistency of my performances. I have come through it stronger and better. New teammates and coaches can be tough. I have had to figure this out from Liverpool to Vardar to Nationals. It’s prepared me for the next steps.

What type of college are you looking for?

I have not done enough research yet. Open minded.
