Winger has verbally committed to the Ohio State University. The Virginia Development Academy/Colgan High School midfielder/captain is an excellent passer and developer of counter-attacks. Both VDA and Colgan place an emphasis on building chances through the spine of the team, giving Winger extra responsibilities. She has thrived under the pressure pushing VDA to the top of the ECNL Standings and making Colgan one of the top High School programs in Virginia. In the last year, she has been called up to both the Girls Youth U16 and U17 National Teams.

Winger’s verbal commitment to Ohio State was a bit of a surprise. She’s a highly rated player and Ohio State is a big-time program. She is a bit different of a center back than what is currently on the roster for the Buckeyes, which does make it an exciting addition. Winger is one of the most athletic center backs in the ECNL. She has incredible recovery speed. She is a hard-nosed defender who is not afraid to put in a slide tackle. Ohio State prioritizing her commitment gives a clear indication that she is viewed as the right center back of the future for them, which is a pretty exciting development for the goalkeepers on the roster.

But based on her most recent form, it seems like moving her into the top 15 might be a more accurate representation of how valuable she is for her team on the pitch.
