Seven new talents from Girls Academy in Illinois 2028 Rankings

The Prep Soccer state rankings for Illinois 2028 class will be update this week. Prior to the release of the new rankings, check out a scouting report on some of the new names added to the rankings with this update.     An is a forward/midfielder on the [program_tooltip program_id='283346' first='FC' last='United'] 2010 Girls Academy team. She has recently been part of the US Soccer Talent ID events. An is an attacking talent with unrivaled pace. She is always on full speed, it's a weapon in the press too. She forces the action to go in her direction - running through tackles, poking the ball away, just being active constantly. The little moments add up and have made her the most effective and impactful attacking talent in the Girls Academy Midwest through the early stage of the season. Her performance against Sockers was unreal. She is a big-time prospect in this class and one of the highest ranked players in the updated Prep Soccer rankings.     Leon is a forward on the Wheaton United Girls Academy 2010 Aspire team. She was also named as an All-State forward after her freshman season. She is a five-foot-four, right footed attacking talent. Her best attribute is her pace and skill. She has been a dominant player at the club and high school level. Quick in her action, she presents problems for defenders with her ability to keep close control of the ball and use her quick feet to cut around defenders with either foot. Leon's composure around the goal is another strong point of her game. She is an excellent finisher with either foot. Leon has a bright future as a winger with her crafty attacking qualities.     Horner is a midfielder on the Galaxy SC 2010 Girls Academy team. She's been part of the Girls Academy Talent ID events in the past. She is a box-to-box midfielder who is excellent at progressing the ball up the field. She does well in checking her shoulders before receiving the ball and makes good decisions on where to play the ball next. She has a great first touch and can navigate her way out of tights spaces with her skill and tactical brilliance. Horner has all the tools to be a key player at the next level.     Kowal is a defender on the [program_tooltip program_id='283630' first='Chicago' last='[program_tooltip program_id='283346' first='FC' last='United']'] 2010 Girls Academy team. She can play as a center back or outside back. She is right footed, but very good with her left foot in every aspect. Kowal has appeal as a versatile player for the next level. It looks like she featured as an outside back during the recent US Soccer Talent ID event. I think she has a higher ceiling as a center back. The way she sees the game and her composure on the ball is such a weapon in that role. She is a playmaker from the position and has the ability get around the press of either foot. Kowal is a top player in the Girls Academy and a top new addition to the Prep Soccer rankings.     Illinois has quickly emerged as a hotbed for goalkeepers. There are a number of excellent goalkeeper coaches in the state and the pipeline from the state to the national team has never been stronger. While the top talent in the state tends to get the headlines, there is an incredible amount of depth at the position too. [player_tooltip player_id='337325' first='Siena' last='Staszak'] is a player who has come on strong this season with the Sockers 2010 Girls Academy team. She is an athletic shot-stopper who is fully capable of making game-deciding saves consistently. Staszak could improve with her aggressiveness off the line on crosses. Getting the defense in front of her organized and owning the six-yard box is a key step in her development. There is plenty of reason to believe she will make that leap this season with the coaching she is getting at Sockers.     Sashin is an outside back on the Galaxy SC 2010 Girls Academy team. She is a versatile player who can feature as a outside midfielder, winger, wingback, or outside back. She is a dependable player with a well-rounded game. She does a bit of everything well. Her strength is her 1v1 defending. She is the type of player who can shine in duels. Sachin's versatility and consistent play for one of the best teams in the country will get her attention from scouts.     Benkert is a goalkeeper on the Central Illinois 2009 Girls Academy team. She is five-foot-10, right footed, and a vocal leader. Benkert has secure hands, good footwork, and a drive for improving her craft. She has the characteristics and traits of a goalkeeper who could have unlimited potential. She is good with her distribution on drop kicks, handles high shots well thanks to her timing on saves, and does well in commanding her team with her verbal cues. Benkert's drive to get better makes her an ideal candidate for a player who could be in for a rapid rise up the rankings as she proves her quality week-to-week in the Girls Academy.
