Throughout the season, PrepSoccer.net will focus on the top candidates for the PrepSoccer All-America honors. Today, we check out the leading girls midfield candidates for fall-playing states. There will be additional players added to the Watch List in the upcoming weeks. Also, it’s important to note, some players toggle between midfield and forward and might be listed under the forwards in this go-around. From match observation and coach recommendations, here are some names to know:

TOP ALL-AMERICA CANDIDATES

(in alphabetical order)

[player_tooltip player_id="29353" first="Olivia" last="Borgen"], Whitman-Hanson (Mass.), Sr., Penn State
Borgen made her presence felt last week by scoring all three goals as Whitman-Hanson, a former FAB 50-ranked team, knocked off Plymouth North, which was nationally ranked at the time. The Penn State commit seems to come up big in big contests. She also scored both goals when Whitman-Hanson tied current Top 20-ranked Hingham. Borgen is in double digits for goals and assists on the season.
[player_tooltip player_id="22229" first="Ava" last="Bramblett"], Noblesville (Ind.), Jr., Ohio State
Bramblett scored a team-high 17 goals and added a team-high nine assists as Noblesville went 16-1-1 on the season. The Millers were the FAB 50 No. 1 team until a postseason loss to another Top 10-ranked program.
[player_tooltip player_id="24314" first="Taylor" last="Brennan"], Council Rock North (Pa.), Sr., Michigan
When it comes to results, it’s been a tough season for Council Rock North. Still, this Michigan commit has helped the team inch its way into the District 1-AAAA playoffs as the No. 14 seed. Brennan came up with some timely goals, including a PK to defeat Pennsbury in late September that jumpstarted a 9-1 run to get the team back in the playoff mix.
[player_tooltip player_id="24182" first="Mary" last="Cochran"], Ramapo (N.J.), Sr., Georgetown
Cochran had 18 goals and 14 assists during Ramapo’s 14-1 start. In fact, the team was 14-0 until a loss this week. For her career she has 58 goals and 52 assists. Had it not been for last year’s COVID-shortened schedule, Cochran might have been chasing a third straight 20-goal, 20-assist season.
[player_tooltip player_id="22741" first="Trinity" last="Dorsey"], Good Counsel (Md.), Sr., Arizona
Her modest seven goals and six assists fail to underscore the value this Arizona commit has to Good Counsel’s lineup. She pretty much controls the midfield in every match, regardless of the opponent. She has the Falcons off to a 12-0-1 start this season.
[player_tooltip player_id="24552" first="Mirann" last="Gacioch"], Nichols School (N.Y.), Sr., Ohio State
A defender by trade, Gacioch has taken on more of an attacking role this season. She has 16 goals and 13 assists, which pushed her four-year totals to 40 goals and 32 assists for this Buffalo-area private school. Nichols starts postseason play next week on a 14-match win streak.
[player_tooltip player_id="30275" first="Mallory" last="Glass"], Sacred Heart Academy (Ky.), Sr., Kentucky
Glass is on pace for another all-state showing. The Kentucky commit had 27 goals and 23 assists for Sacred Heart, which worked its way back into the FAB 50 national rankings before getting upset in the state quarterfinals. Glass was a four-year starter on a perennial Kentucky powerhouse and tallied nearly 70 goals and 40 assists for her career.
[player_tooltip player_id="22321" first="Jenna" last="Lang"], Columbus North (Ind.), Sr., Michigan
Lang topped 20 goals for the third straight year, leading Columbus North to a 15-2-2 season. She ends her high school career with more than 110 goals and at least 30 assists for a career point total above 250.
[player_tooltip player_id="20910" first="Sophia" last="Lowenberg"], Trumbull (Conn.), Sr., Boston College
Trumbull has struggled for wins this year, finishing regular season play at 6-6-4, but Lowenburg certainly has delivered. Perhaps her most impressive performance this year was assisting on four goals in a 5-5 tie with Greenwich in early October. Lowenburg is a returning all-state performer.
[player_tooltip player_id="25714" first="Ava" last="Minnier"], Downingtown West (Pa.), Sr., Penn State
The highlight in Minnier’s senior season might have been the hat trick she scored in the team’s 3-1 win over Great Valley in early October that kept Downingtown West’s playoff hopes alive. However, despite a winning record, Downingtown West missed the district playoffs by one spot.
[player_tooltip player_id="29436" first="Sierra" last="Pennock"], Timpanogos (Utah), Sr., BYU
An all-state performer last year, Pennock helped Timpanogos to the state semifinals where it lost to eventual champ Skyline. Pennock had six goals and seven assists. Her last goal gave Timpanogos a short-lived 1-0 lead in the state semifinals.
[player_tooltip player_id="29372" first="Maddie" last="Poor"], East Ridge (Minn.), Sr., Wisconsin
Poor was an all-state selection this year as Minnesota is one of the first states to announce its award winners. In true midfielder fashion, Poor was equally adept at scoring and setting up teammates. At last glance, she was second on the team in goals and led in assists. East Ridge advanced to the section semifinals before falling to White Bear Lake.
[player_tooltip player_id="26250" first="Kennedy" last="Price"], Battle Ground Academy (Tenn.), Sr., Mississippi
Price is setting up teammates to do the scoring as Battle Ground Academy is back in the state semifinals and eying a third straight Division I-A title this week. In BGA’s first playoff match, the Mississippi commit had a goal and two assists as the team cruised to a 7-1 win.
[player_tooltip player_id="28137" first="Chloe" last="Seelhoff"], Glacier Peak (Wash.), Sr., Washington State
Seelhoff could pull off quite a feat if she can earn The herald’s Girls Soccer Player of the Year honors this fall. That would make it twice in the same calendar year as she collected the award this past spring when Washington moved to an abbreviated spring season. The Washington State commit had 14 goals and 10 assists through the team’s first 12 matches.
