Texas HS: Cy Ranch defeat Jordan 1-0 in non-district match

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The high school soccer season got immediately back in action in the state of Texas after the New Year celebrations, and every day multiple matches are held in the Lone Star State as teams prepare for the start of district play in a couple of weeks.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For another season, Prep Soccer Texas will be following the action closely as it unfolds in the Houston area, attending multiple matches a week and providing the best coverage in the state, with Photo Galleries, Match Reports and Social Media posts that will help increase the exposure of teams and players in the Lone Star State.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Friday, January 2, we attended a non-district match between the Jordan Warriors and the Cypress Ranch Mustangs at Rhodes Stadium, in Katy. Leal was very solid defensively, playing with great determination, holding his own in 1v1 duels out wide and stepping up to block crosses. He also did well when going forward, combining with his teammates out wide to get to the end line and coming inside on some occasions - in one of them, he fired a great shot just a few inches above the goal. Karim used his body well to win duels inside and around the penalty box, but also showed good mobility to make stops when he had to defend in space. His timing was impeccable and led him to make a couple of critical plays inside his own box, most notably blocking what would most likely have been a goal for the Warriors in the first half. Mujica played a few different roles for the Mustangs, and was always very involved with their play, both offensively and defensively. He was very active in supporting their buildup, moving well off the ball to offer a passing option to the defenders, and taking great care of the ball with his solid distribution and decision-making. Chipindula used his pace to chase long balls and made some dangerous runs behind Jordan's backline. He also showed good quality on the ball, combining with his teammates and using his dribbling skills to beat opponents out wide and make plays. Used as a left wingback, Euceda had the green light to push forward, and so he did, being a constant presence in the final third. He was very aggressive and intense on the ball, having some nice duels with Cy Ranch's Madix Leal out wide. Martinez remained calm through adversity and tried to keep the ball on the ground and move it around to find gaps in the opposing backline.
