With a thunderstorm hitting the area on Saturday, the first day of matches was cut short, but after that, two days of great play followed across the three venues that hosted the event.

Prep Soccer was in Dallas over the weekend, watching matches and looking at part of the thousands of players who got on the field during the event. On Sunday, we were at the Toyota Soccer Center, in Frisco, following matches of the 2011 age group. We'll now feature the players who did a good job in their matches, beginning with the goalkeepers:

Anderson was with the Sporting Blue Valley team that completed their schedule with a win and a tie. I got to watch her in a 1-1 tie against Sting Black in which she helped limit the opponents' strong offense to only one goal. A tall goalkeeper, Anderson used her long arms well - she expanded her reach very efficiently to make a stop in a 1v1 play and was very reliable when dealing with crosses. The goalkeeper was also very vocal, constantly communicating with her teammates and encouraging them.

Dorsey and her [program_tooltip program_id='283317' first='[program_tooltip program_id='280767' first='DKSC' last='']' last=''] teammates lost both of their matches over the weekend in Dallas. I saw her in action in a 2-0 loss to SLSG Green in which, despite the negative outcome, it was possible to see some interesting potential in her game. A tall and athletic goalkeeper, she uses her physical tools very well, being very reliable in shots on the upper corner and claiming crosses, but also showing impressive quickness to get to the ground to make stops. Dorsey also showed she has a strong right leg, sending her punts way high up on the field.

Webb and her Solar SC team had a perfect weekend in the event, winning their two matches and registering clean sheets in both of them. I attended their 2-0 win over FC Stars Blue and, despite the great work of the backline in protecting her, the goalkeeper responded well when called to action. Webb made some nice stops in shots and was very quick to leave her spot and get to the ball when passes were sent behind the backline. The goalkeeper also used her feet very well, showing calm and composure to move the ball, even when under pressure.

Boyne played for the SLSG Navy team that left Texas with a win and two losses. I got to watch her in the team's best match, a 2-1 win over [program_tooltip program_id='283282' first='Challenge' last='SC'], and she played a big role in their victory, delivering a solid performance between the posts. Boyne was very dependable every time she had to make a play, showing great positioning to make saves and quickness to be the first to get to long passes and crosses inside the box. The goalkeeper also did well when she had to use her feet, keeping things simple but connecting her passes efficiently.

Grooms-Sidhu was with the Bethesda SC team that got to play three times in the showcase, getting a win, a loss and a tie. I was on the sidelines when they fell to [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'] 3-0 and saw in her one of the best ball-playing goalkeepers in the entire event. Grooms-Sidhu was really active in possession, not only showing calm and quality on the ball, but also stepping up and playing higher on the field to have an active role in the team's buildup. She also did well between the posts, benefiting from her great positioning to make stops.
