About Hayden
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I am an attacking player who combines creativity with relentless work rate. I love taking defenders on, finding spaces others miss, and creating chances in the final third, but I take just as much pride in winning the ball back as I do scoring goals. The best compliment a coach can give me is that I impact the game even when I'm not on the scoresheet.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I am naturally curious, reflective, and driven. I ask a lot of questions because I want to understand how to improve, not just what to do. Whether it's soccer, academics, or leadership opportunities, I'm always looking for ways to grow. I care deeply about the people around me and try to be someone teammates can rely on during both good moments and difficult ones.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
Outside of soccer, I am involved in National English Honor Society, Mock Trial, Lead4Change, and my school's media and literary magazine programs. I have earned Academic Scholar recognition and was awarded Best Advocate in Mock Trial. Writing has always been a major part of my life, and I enjoy using it as a way to tell stories, explore ideas, and connect with others.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Growing up around challenges taught me resilience, empathy, and gratitude. It showed me the importance of supporting others and staying strong through difficult situations. Through soccer, I have developed communication skills, composure under pressure, and a team-first mentality. These experiences have shaped me into someone who leads by example and works to make an impact on those around me.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
My family has faced significant health challenges throughout my life, and I grew up spending more time in hospitals than most kids. Watching someone you love battle illness changes your perspective and forces you to grow up quickly. It taught me to appreciate opportunities, value time with the people I care about, and never take a day for granted.
What type of college are you looking for?
I am looking for a college that will challenge me academically, athletically, and personally. I want a close-knit community where I can build meaningful relationships, compete at a high level, and explore interests such as political science, psychology, philosophy, criminology, and writing. Above all, I want a place that will help me grow into the best version of myself.
