The versatile [player_tooltip player_id="13153" first="Yuxuan" last="Yang"], who goes by Ryan Yang, recently committed to Columbia, his high school coach confirmed to PrepSoccer.net.
Yang, who attends Pennington School (N.J.) and plays club for PDA in MLS NXT, was among the <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="https://prepsoccer.net/2021/12/all-america-game-boys-best-xi/">High School All-American Game standouts</a></span> this past December in Knoxville, Tenn.
The senior is listed as a defender, but usually plays midfield or forward with Pennington School. He scored 16 goals and added nine assists while helping Pennington to a 14-2-2 season and a No. 12 final <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="https://prepsoccer.net/home/team-rankings/boys-top-50/">Fall FAB 50 ranking in 2021</a></span>. Pennington’s only two losses in a state runner-up season were a pair of one-goal setbacks to FAB 50 No. 2 St. Benedict’s Prep (N.J.).
Yang was a Trentonian All-Prep first-team selection as a forward and a Trentonian All-Area first-teamer as a midfielder.
Yang is the fifth Pennington senior starter to commit to a college program, and the third to commit to an NCAA Division I program this season, joining keeper [player_tooltip player_id="29203" first="Rafa" last="Ponce de Leon"] (Villanova) and [player_tooltip player_id="13071" first="Lukas" last="Gessner"] (Xavier).
He joins a Columbia incoming class that includes Carmine Falco, [player_tooltip player_id="29187" first="Alessandro" last="Franciosa"], Jesse Greissman, [player_tooltip player_id="33070" first="Dean" last="Kelliher"], and Cy Sokolowski.
