Indiana’s top 2023 defenders

The ability to shut down the opposing team’s attack is pivotal for any team that harbors championship aspirations. The Class of 2023 has a group of defenders that can solidify the back line. Three prospects are ranked in the Class of 2023 Girls state rankings. Today, we evaluate this trio. That is exactly what Center Grove and FC Pride Elite have in [player_tooltip player_id="22336" first="Kayli" last="Farmer"]. Farmer can provide an outstanding attacking presence. She can get forward, and she also makes an impact on set pieces as well. This past high school season, she scored five goals and provided three assists. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="22344" first="Lauren" last="Adam"], Noblesville, Indiana Fire</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="22344" first="Lauren" last="Adam"] verbally committed to Purdue, and the way that she played for the Noblesville Millers last season will give the folks in West Lafayette plenty to be excited about. Adam is a tough center back who can serve as the marshal of the back line. Adam is a reliable central defender, capable of breaking up any attack. During the high school season she stole possession 36 times. Adam will be a vital player for a Noblesville team that hopes to go deep into the state tournament again next year. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="22304" first="Erika" last="Wells"], East Central, FC Pride Elite</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="22304" first="Erika" last="Wells"] is the heart-and-soul, not just of the back line, but the entire team at East Central. Wells displays remarkable versatility. Wells can play forward, midfielder and defender; all of which at a high level. Her versatility will allow for her to do well in different positions and formations based on the situation. Wells scored 12 goals and accounted for 18 assists during the high school season. Look for Wells to be a major difference-maker in her senior season.
