Three Sonny G Academy Players to Watch in the MLS Next Season

<p>Just over two months after completing its 2025-2026 season, the MLS Next League returned to action this past weekend, with the first games of 2026-2027 taking place all over the country.</p>   <p>For another season, Prep Soccer Texas will be following the league closely and providing wide coverage of the Lone Star State prospects, which will include match reports, player analysis and photo galleries.</p>   <p>With the season just starting, we'd like to highlight a few players from each Texas team who could be set for strong performances. Austin's [program_tooltip program_id='349106' first='Sonny' last='G Academy'] are competing in the Homegrown Division for the first time, and here are some of their players worth following.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Finck plays for [program_tooltip program_id='349106' first='Sonny' last='G Academy']'s U16 team in the upcoming season. A big and physical defensive midfielder, he provides solid protection to the team's defensive system and can also play on the backline if needed. Frinck uses his big frame very efficiently to win duels, but is also very quick to react when opponents make a heavy touch or briefly lose possession, making strong and accurate moves for the ball. Previously with [program_tooltip program_id='283612' first='Austin' last='FC'], he's an outside back who adds a lot offensively with his quality on the ball and good decisions in the attacking half. Manevich can play on both sides and constantly steps into the final third to be an option and get involved in the team's playmaking. He moves very well off the ball, making smart runs behind the backline, and delivers accurate crosses into the box with both feet. A dynamic and skilled winger who plays primarily on the left, he makes a big offensive impact for the team with his solid production. Allen uses both feet very well when dribbling and is very aggressive with how he takes the ball to the end line to provide service to his teammates, also being capable of delivering well-timed passes behind the backline.
