The Texas Boys Class of 2023 rankings have been released on PrepSoccer. FC Dallas leads the way in this class. The MLS academy powerhouse has the top three players during this update.
The No. 1 player for this class is midfielder [player_tooltip player_id="16693" first="Santiago" last="Ferreira"], but he may not be there for long. The FC Dallas academy player is playing for the club’s MLS Next Pro side North Texas SC. He started during a preseason game, which suggests there might be a professional contract in his future.
The PrepSoccer Player Rankings consist of amateur players only. Players who have signed professional contracts are not included in these player rankings.

No. 2 [player_tooltip player_id="16424" first="Kevin" last="Kelley"], FC Dallas

Kelley is another player on the professional pathway. He starred for the FC Dallas 05 team during this MLS Next season. Kelley is an attacking player with pace to burn the defender. His future is likely on the wing, but FC Dallas has been adventurous with prospects in the past in terms of developing them into different roles for the professional level. He has quick feet and an elusiveness in tight spaces.

No. 3 [player_tooltip player_id="16593" first="Nolan" last="Norris"], FC Dallas - Highlights

Quality left backs are hard to find at the club level especially one with the pedigree of Norris. The FC Dallas academy player has youth international experience. He is technically sound on the ball, lethal on set pieces, and a very good one-v-one defender in duels. Norris is a Furman commit and likely should be starting immediately for any team at the college level.

No. 5 [player_tooltip player_id="41202" first="Marcos" last="Moore"] - RISE SC

Moore is the top recruit from Texas outside of an MLS academy in the PrepSoccer rankings. The forward is a St. Louis University recruit for the 2023 class. He is a rare combination of size, strength, and skill. He looks ready for the challenges of college soccer already. His ability to withstand a tackle and keep control of the ball is elite for the youth game. He can play with his back to the goal or face a defender on the dribble.

Betancourt is a midfielder in the mould of a Dillon Powers. He doesn’t need to touch every blade of grass on the pitch to influence the game. He is going to put in a tackle and make sure you remember he is there. Then he going to smash the ball into the back of the net from 35 yards out.

WL Eli Finley, FC Dallas ECNL

Finley lost out on some of his junior season due to a knee injury, but the goalkeeper is back now and one to watch for the future. He is a two-sport star (American football) at the high school level, but he looks like a one-sport star for the next level. He is a massive presence in goal standing at 6-foot-5. His play at the club level earned him a spot on the ECNL All-Conference First Team last season. The goalkeeper is committed to Oral Roberts and one to watch for the future.
