She scored the game-winning goal in extra time against Norfolk Academy from her center back position. Plays center back almost like a traditional sweeper. Great field vision enables her to be the vocal leader on the back line. Plays well with both feet and distributes directly and indirectly to open teammates. Named All-Tidewater as a sophomore defender. Plays club for Beach FC 03/04. [caption id="attachment_42165" align="alignright" width="300"] Jayda Sutton[/caption] MF Jayda Sutton, Western Branch, Class of 2025 A winger with excellent pace and ball skills to attack defenders 1v1. She's a starting freshman on a Class 6 (largest in Virginia) side who is not intimidated by facing older competition. She's comfortable playing wide or in a center attacking role. Plays physical and goes in hard on challenges. Super positive attitude on and off the pitch. Plays club for Golden Ball Soccer Academy. [caption id="attachment_42187" align="alignright" width="300"] Caroline Blanchard[/caption] MF Caroline Blanchard, Cox, Class of 2023 Named to the 2005 Virginia State ODP pool in 2021. A player (along with her twin sister below) who loves the game. Structured coaching provides a platform to learn the game, but nothing can replace countless hours playing and battling in the back yard with your twin! A true attacking midfielder who can play centrally or out wide and has great vision. At the game I attended, she scored a near post cracker over the keeper from the right corner of the box with her left foot (she said she is right footed, but I would say she can play equally with both feet.) Always seems to be around the ball and keeps her head up. [caption id="attachment_42172" align="alignright" width="300"] Sasha Daniel[/caption] CB Sasha Daniel, Western Branch, Class of 2025 A treat to watch at her center back position. Very good in the air and winning 1v1 battles. Covers a lot of ground with her exceptional speed. Has her coach's confidence to start and lead the back line as a freshman. Communicates well and is not shy about taking space in front of her to make dribbles out of the back until she distributes. Outstanding technical ability and has great composure with the ball. Plays club for Golden Ball Soccer Academy. [caption id="attachment_42359" align="alignright" width="300"] Photo: Emily Box Courtesy photo[/caption] F Emily Box, Ocean Lakes, Class of 2023 A true number 9 up top, she moves well off the ball to provide a target for teammates. She has great technical ability and challenges defenders 1v1. A deadly finisher with her head and feet, she is a threat to score anywhere inside the box. Represents the Captains armband well and is a leader during matches and on the training ground. Plays club for Beach FC 05. MF Madison Blanchard, Cox, Class of 2023 [caption id="attachment_42173" align="alignright" width="225"] Madison Blanchard[/caption] Named to the 2005 Virginia State ODP pool in 2021. Missed major time to a knee injury but is back playing at 100 percent. Plays in a 4-3-3 as a center attacking mid but frequently goes wide and interchanges with her sister in the midfield during the run of play. Finds open space and is always looking for the ball. Smooth technical dribbler with a great first touch. Stated she was right foot dominant, but I witnessed her score by hitting a banger just inside the box with her left foot.
