Here’s some stop standouts from the third week of Wisconsin’s high school season: F [player_tooltip player_id="29459" first="Kayla" last="Budish"], Brookfield Central, Sr. Budish was an All-American selection as a junior. The Purdue commit has her team off to a solid start this season. She does all the dirty work up top to help her team win games. Her quickness and physicality allows her to win any loose ball in the box and bang it home. She makes excellent runs in transition opportunities too. She plays at a very high pace and knows exactly what to do to beat out an opposing defender or keeper. Budish helped Brookfield Central draw 1-1 with No. 2 Muskego to begin the week. On Saturday, she scored two goals to take down Arrowhead 3-1. F [player_tooltip player_id="28476" first="Taylor" last="Gordon"], Waterford, Jr. Only a junior, Taylor's taking her game to another level this season. Her speed up top has allowed her to create and capitalize on an insane amount of goal-scoring opportunities. She opened her season two weeks ago with a hat-trick and two assists all in the first half to beat Beaver Dam 9-0. She scored a few days later to draw Union Grove 1-1. But what she did last Tuesday against Burlington was unbelievable. In an 8-3 win, Taylor scored seven goals. Yes, seven. The Waterford junior has verbally committed to Wisconsin. F Amelia Schuh, DePere, So. Schuh has started off hot at striker with DePere looking to open eyes in the Green Bay area. The sophomore striker has nine early goals in four games this season. She opened the season with four goals over Seymour. That was immediately followed by three at Kaukana, and two at Menasha. She got an assist most recently in a 3-0 win over West DePere. Standing at 5-10, she’s one of the tallest forwards in Wisconsin. Can win lots of 50-50 balls and has a lot of power with her shot. D Piper Dupies, Divine Savior-Holy Angels, Jr. Dupies is an excellent two-way left back for DSHA. She battles for every 50-50 ball, likes to dribble in space downfield, and swing crosses into the box. Dupies had an impressive week with two wins over Middleton and Rockwood Summit (Mo.). She got the game-winning assist in a 2-1 win over Middleton. Dupies scored and assisted in their next game for a 2-0 win. DSHA is off to another very strong start this season with six wins and a draw. M Melina Knowles, Plymouth, So. Knowles is an under-the-radar attacking-midfielder to watch from Division 3 Plymouth. She’s great at making off-ball runs and dribbling into open spaces for scoring opportunities. Knowles scored an impressive goal Tuesday against Sheboygan North to secure a 2-1 win. On Thursday, she found the back of the net twice and added an assist in a 5-0 win over Kettle Moraine Lutheran. Plymouth is currently ranked third in Division 3 by the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association. GK Lilly Hanke, Waukesha West, Jr. Hanke and Waukesha West have yet to concede a goal in three games played this spring. All three games went down to the wire as the Wolverines have beaten Sectional contenders Arrowhead and Kettle Moraine. At 5-10, Hanke does a tremendous job handling crosses. She also makes quick decisions with her distribution. She’s had lots of action so far. Coming away with nine saves in a 1-0 win over Arrowhead, and eight saves in a 1-0 win over Kettle Moraine.
