Illinois Week 6 high school girls standouts

<strong>F [player_tooltip player_id="32977" first="Avery" last="Christopher"], O’Fallon, Sr.</strong> Christopher has played excellent soccer all spring. She’s already surpassed her 2021 goal-scoring total through nine games this season. She currently has 24 goals and eight assists. On Thursday, she found the back of the net twice with an assist to lead the Panthers to a 5-2 win over Granite City. She copied those numbers over the weekend in a 5-1 win over Glenwood. <strong>M Sadie Mueller, O’Fallon, Fr.</strong> Mueller is the newest Panther to break onto the scene this spring. Last Tuesday, the freshman scored the game’s only goal in the first half of a 1-0 win over Alton. She scored another goal Saturday as O’Fallon topped Glenwood 5-1. The freshman is very mobile in the midfield and can make an impact in the attack. <strong>F Gina Catanzaro, Triad, Sr.</strong> Catanzaro had an outstanding week as Triad cruised to three victories. She got her distribution going to start the week with two early-game assists in a win over Jersey. On Thursday, she scored two more goals in a win over Highland. The Maryville commit saved her best performance for last. She ended the week with a hat trick over Belleville West. Triad’s has won 38 games in a row and has been unbeaten in its last 39. <strong>GK Zoey Bohmer, Wheaton North, So.</strong> Bohmer is another young goalkeeper who's gone under the radar this season. The sophomore standout hasn't conceded a goal for the Falcons in the last five games. Last week, she was voted Athlete of the Week by a west suburban newspaper in Chicago. Bohmer is an athletic keeper who has very good positioning. Her extra leg strength allows her to excel with her feet. What I like most is her ability to play fast and create counter-attacking opportunities. <strong>F Anya Gulbrandsen, Oswego East, So.</strong> She absolutely scorched opponents on the offensive end with her finishing and playmaking. The sophomore started the week with a hat trick over Plainfield South. On Thursday, she scored against Benet at the Naperville invite en route to a 2-1 win. On Saturday, she contributed to all three goals as Oswego East took down St. Charles North 3-1. Gulbrandsen had two goals and an assist in that game.
