Continue ReadingThe PrepSoccer Player Rankings for the Girls Class of 2025 from California came out this week. The rankings include over 70 players from the state (North, Central, and South) from the rising sophomore high school class.
The 2025 group includes a lot of depth including a few players with very high ceilings who we highlighted earlier this week. The players from 30-50 in the rankings include some with Youth National Team appearances on their resume, which shows how hard it is to crack the top 10 in this class in this state. It also shows just how much talent is in this state when you take into account the talent rich areas of San Diego, Los Angeles, and the Bay Area.
Take a look at an in-depth scouting report on five of the players from the California Class of 2025 rankings who are worth watch in 2022.
Milla Lee Milla Lee F Urban | 2025 #232 Nation MA is a big-time player who impressed during the Girls Academy playoffs. She is a winger who has the skill and intelligence to play as an attacking midfielder as well. She is a do-it-all type of player. She is good on the ball in tight spaces, and can navigate through an army of legs trying to stop her runs on the ball. She can deliver a good cross with pace and accuracy. She can also finish with the best of them. She is good in dead ball situations and tends to take most of the free kicks for FC Bay Area Surf when she is on the field. Lee is one to watch for the future as FC Bay Area Surf makes the move over to the ECNL this season – the club’s 07 team should be among the best in the area in 2023.
Riley Crooks Riley Crooks null | D Edison | 2025 State #223 Nation CA is a standout center back on the Slammers FC ECNL 06 team. She plays left center back, and is right-footed. She is an excellent passer, and has great technique with her striking of the ball. She is a weapon on set pieces as she can deliver a very accurate pass. She brings that same precision in the run of play and can easily hit a pass over 50 yards. Even though she has the option to hit direct balls over the top of the defense all game, she has good game awareness and shows good instincts in knowing when to play the simple pass for her team.
Defensively, she has good pace and can go toe-to-toe with most attackers in a foot race. She reads the game well and quickly identifies when she can step in for an interception. Crooks is definitely a player to watch in the 06 age group for this upcoming club season.
