Throughout the season, PrepSoccer.com will focus on the top candidates for the PrepSoccer All-America honors. Today, we check out the leading girls forward candidates for fall-playing states. There will be additional players added to the Watch List in the upcoming weeks. From match observation, 2021 PrepSoccer.com accolades and coach recommendations, here are some names to know:

Kayla Barr, Maryville (Tenn.), Sr., Tennessee

The Knoxville area features two of the nation's top high school finishers in Barr and [player_tooltip player_id='26207' first='Brinley' last='Murphy']. Both are major college commits and both are coming up on 100 career goals. Barr recently set Maryville's all-time goalscoring record with her 95th.

Brianna Buels, Bishop Chatard (Ind.), Sr., Missouri

Buels has netted 24 goals this season as Bishop Chatard has had a breakthrough season. The team is 16-2-1 and could be a real threat to 2A favorite Evansville Memorial. Chatard lost to Brebeuf Jesuit and Evansville Memorial earlier in the season, but defeated Brebeuf in a playoff rematch last week and could get a shot at Memorial next week.

Addison Halpern, Rutgers Prep (N.J.), So.

Halpern is one of the nation's top Class of 2024 prospects and she's delivering another big season for Rutgers Prep. Through the team's first 11 matches she has 30 goals and nine assists. In two years of high school play, Halpern has 75 goals and 38 assists.

Claire Hutton, Bethlehem (N.Y.), Sr.*, North Carolina

Hutton poses an interesting postseason dilemma for the New York state coaches. A superstar who made the Bethlehem varsity team as a seventh-grader in 2018 and was the Class AA State Player of the Year as an eighth-grader in 2019, has returned to play for Bethlehem this fall, but for the boys team. Therefore, will she be considered for the boys or girls all-state squads? She did not play high school in 2020 or in 2021 while pursuing a spot on the U17 Women's National Team. She is a starting midfielder for Bethlehem's boys team, which is among the strongest Class AA programs in the Albany area. After committing to North Carolina last month, she also announced she would graduate a year early -- thus making her a senior right now instead of a Class of 2024 prospect. Hutton has four goals and four assists during Bethlehem's recent seven-match win streak.

[player_tooltip player_id='45006' first='Peyton' last='Kohls'], Mount Notre Dame (Ohio), Sr., Xavier

Kohls is Mount Notre Dame's all-time leader in goals scored, a record she set a little over three weeks ago. Interesting note, Kohls broke the record that was held by US National Team standout Rose Lavelle.

[player_tooltip player_id='26207' first='Brinley' last='Murphy'], Bearden (Tenn.), Sr., South Carolina

Murphy recently set the school career goal-scoring record and is nearing 100 goals. She led Bearden to a state title last fall and this year's team is perfect through 16 matches and ranked No. 1 in the FAB 50.

Sophie Reale, Hingham (Mass.), Sr., UCLA

Reale played a key role in Hingham's state runner-up finish in 2021. Now, she wants to go out as a winner in 2022. She has scored 17 goals in Hingham's 9-0-2 start.

Shelby Runje, Issaquah (Wash.), Sr., Gonzaga

Runje has been on an offensive tear, scoring 17 goals and adding five assists in the team's first eight matches. Most of the scoring took place in the first six contests as Issaquah worked its way into the FAB 50 Top 25.

Amanda Schlueter, St. Henry (Ky.), Sr., Ohio State

Schlueter has netted 34 goals and added seven assists as St. Henry has gone 13-5-2. It's easy to roll up numbers against weak opponents, but when St. Henry has to face the powers, it's Schlueter who is still finding the net. She scored the team's lone goal against Notre Dame Academy and the district final loss to Dixie Heights. She has seven goals in three playoff matches.

Amiah Shell, Auburn Riverside (Wash.), Sr., Washington

Shell, who has a touching backstory that was featured News-Tribune, recently set Auburn Riverside's career goal-scoring record. She has helped this talented team to a 10-1 start.

Jenna Tobia, Watchung Hills (N.J.), Sr., Clemson

Tobia scored 14 goals and had seven assists as Watchung Hills rolled out to a 12-0 start and earned a FAB 50 Top 25 ranking. Through 12 matches she's already topped her 2021 goal total and matched her entire 2021 points mark.

OTHERS

Sadie Beardall, Bonneville (Utah), Sr., Utah Valley

Xayla Black, Coronado (Nev.), Sr., Portland

Gabrielle Chan, Albertus Magnus (N.Y.), Jr., Columbia

Olivia Collins, Gallatin (Mont.), Sr., Montana

Grace Dunaway, Mars (Pa.), Sr., St. John's

Ava Feeley, Yarmouth (Maine), Sr., Boston College

Isabella Garces, Tabor Academy (Mass.), Sr., Princeton

Ella Hamner, Evansville Memorial (Ind.), Sr., Evansville
