Continue ReadingListed below is a strong 2023 Texas boys class, with many having the opportunity to represent their respected national team, as well as having other impressive national rankings and other soccer-related accolades. These five boys athletes have shown to be exciting players to watch as well as great additions to any college team.
No. 1 Micah Burton Micah Burton M State TX : A midfielder from Austin FC with an impressive player ranking of No. 1 in all-around rankings — including state rank, position rank, and national rank. Burton has also been no stranger to PrepSoccer, with being tagged in three other articles. In addition, Burton also has received a call-up to the US U-17 MYNT. Burton has a power midfielder that would be a key offensive asset to any college team.
No. 2 Luis Moreno Luis Moreno M State TX : Another top midfielder from Houston Dynamo who ranks No. 3 in Texas and has an impressive national rank of No. 28. Moreno, like Burton, also has been invited to the US U-17 MYNT. In a recent PrepSoccer article, Moreno was assessed as “a great passer and (has) the tools to be on the professional pathway.”
No. 3 Brian Alanis Brian Alanis D State #82 Nation TX : A top defender from Houston Dynamo who ranks No. 4 in Texas and No. 25 nationally. Alanis joins Bruton and Moreno with the US U-17 MYNT invite (was on the camp roster for the Jan. 14, 2022, national team camp).
No. 4 Sho Haggerty Sho Haggerty D State #106 Nation TX : Another strong defender from Austin FC, who like his ranking peers, has impressive rankings as well. He is No. 5 in Texas and No. 79 nationally.
No. 5 Anthony Ramirez Anthony Ramirez F State #74 Nation TX : To conclude the top 5 list is Ramirez, a forward for FC Dallas who ranks No. 6 in Texas and No. 61 nationally. Ramirez’s accolades include being a Dallas Cup Champion and being on the U-18 Mexico national team roster for the Antalya Cup in Turkey.
These five uncommitted college recruits are diverse in position and represent club teams scattered across Texas, but they all play at a high level with top club teams.
