St. Benedict’s boys, Bearden girls are still No. 1 in the FAB 50
Idaho 5A champs Boise Timberline boys and Boise girls are the first teams to secure final FAB 50 Top 25 finishes this season.
Senior-led Boise Timberline boys started the season in the Top 25 and likely will finish among the Top 15 when all is finished. Idaho’s large-school state champ completed a second straight undefeated season and sports a two-year mark of 38-1-2. Boise girls also were a preseason FAB 50 choice and this year broke a streak of four straight runner-up finishes by besting league rival Centennial 2-0 in the 5A final to finish 19-1. While Boise moved up to No. 24 this week, it is likely to move higher as the rest of the fall plays out.
While those teams locked up Top 25 finishes, the two national title frontrunners are holding their own. St. Benedict’s (N.J.) boys is a slight No. 1 pick over Calvert Hall (Md.). On the girls side, Bearden (Tenn.) remains No. 1 ahead of a loaded Mars (Pa.) squad that is aiming for a fourth straight state title.
There was no much movement in this week’s rankings as the only newcomers to the FAB 50 all debuted in the 40s.
