DePeppe had a standout campaign for his high school. He was a First Team Class 4A All-State. He stood out from game film for his technical ability on the ball. He has a good first touch and he moves fluidly while in possession. He has qualities to break down the opposition with his passing, but he also has excellent ball-striking ability and can score from outside of the box. DePeppe will be one to put on the radar from outside of the main national leagues.
Hamilton is another player who popped up on the radar thanks to his performance during the high school season. Hamilton was a standout from the state championship game. He is a center back who reads the game well. He was part of a defense that was exceptional in their positioning and stalwart approach. He has good size and athleticism. Hamilton is a player that could really impress during an ID camp this summer.
rnBennett is a tall center midfielder from Regis Jesuit. He is left footed with a box-to-box mentality. He is a traditional No. 8 in the sense that he can do a bit of everything. He has great field awareness and does well in checking his shoulders often before receiving the ball. Bennett also had a strong campaign at the high school level in 2022.
Ary is an outside back/winger who joined the high school level this season. He previously played at a top club level that prevented him from doing both. He found quite a bit of success as the leader for his high school as he showed off his multi-faceted game. He hit double digits in both goals and assists on the campaign. He earned a spot on the All-State team for his performance during his junior season. Ary is still competing at a top level in club as part of the Real Colorado ECNL program. He was recently named to the ECNL St. Louis National Selection Game. He looks to be an outside back at the next level. He has good skill on the ball and an impressive work rate. He should be on the top for top programs in the region.
Highlights
Woldeyohannes is another standout from the high school level from his junior campaign. The forward was named the player of the year in his high school’s state classification. He is a dominant attacking talent. His pace is extremely hard to contain. Watching Woldeyohannes on tape immediately suggested that he has qualities for the next level. He has breakaway speed and is impossible to catch once he gets into the open field. The right-footed forward had a stellar high school campaign and should be in the spotlight for scouts at the ECNL level in 2023.
*The featured highlights are from Woldeyohannes’ 2021 season, his junior highlights were not available yet.
The goalkeeper might not be on this list for long. During a stellar high school season, Vera Ruiz earned a trial with Club America, according to this school’s paper. The Colorado 2024 goalkeeper class is loaded with the top prospect overall in the state being a goalkeeper. Vera Ruiz is an athletic shot-stopper who is good with his feet. He was a key member of the Wheat Ridge squad this season.
