Popov has been one of the most prolific scorers in MLS Next this season. The center forward for FC United has been on the scoresheet in almost every game I’ve seen this season. He is strong on the ball and extremely difficult to move for defenders. His link-up/hold-up play has been one of the best parts of his development. He allows his teammates the time to make the runs off the ball to open up the field. Popov’s play defensively has also been a big positive this season. He has created his own chances with his pressure. The efficiency in the final third is the point that scouts will note, and he has been lethal when given those chances.
