About Aliyah

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I like to think of myself as calm and collected, as it's my job to keep the backline in order and focused on defense. My teams often play through me and play extensively out of the back, so I focus a lot on ensuring I'm comfortable playing with feet, both short and long.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

What I love about being a keeper is that it combines athletic, mental and strategic challenge. To further develop my game, I play a number on my high school varsity team, including keeper and defender. Beyond soccer, I challenge myself as an athlete, with Varsity Swimming (school record in 200 FR relay; State and Metros Qualifier 2023, 2024) and Track and Field teams.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

National Gold Medal, Scholastic Writing Competition, Personal Essay and Memoir 2024 (Top 1% out of 300,000+ entries); HCSSIM: 6 week residential summer program in advanced mathematics (<5% acceptance out of 1000+ applicants); First author, "Developing Protocols for Using Radon as A Tracer to Measure Greenhouse Gas Emissions" - accepted for annual conference of the American Geophysical Union 2024

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Founder, One Word Reading Initiative (raised and provided 1,800+ high-quality children's books to 700+ at-risk families through pop-up books fairs across the region). Featured in local news and press; Received Arlington County Youth Service Award, Arlington Cares (2024)

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Prior to my sophomore year, I tore my ACL at ECNL Nationals. I worked extremely hard last year in PT, with weights, and keeping my skills sharp. I've battled back and now feel I am stronger and better than before.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for an academic environment and a place where I can develop as an athlete and a student.
