Avila is a defender on the Valley Surf ‘] 2010 GA team. She plays right center back for her club team. She was also part of the Girls Academy National Talent ID event last summer. Avila scores a ton of goals for a defender. She is a weapon on set pieces – both in the sense that she gets onto the service, but also in her anticipation of where the second ball will be and her quick reactions. Defensively, she is a smooth, calm player. Her team dominates the play at the Girls Academy action, so she is mainly called into the picture on a counter attack and rarely under sustained pressure. She handles center forwards with expertise and controls where they turn on the ball. Avila has been one of the best in the Girls Academy in Northern California.
