About Avery

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a versatile, high-energy player who loves competing and adapting to what the team needs. I play wing, center mid, and defense, and I take pride in being strong in 1v1 situations and connecting plays up the field. Coaches describe me as physical, gritty, and a communicator, someone who brings intensity, helps organize the field, and makes the people around me better.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Competitive, driven, and positive, I work hard, stay focused, and help my teammates succeed on and off the field.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m involved in the Buddy Club, where I build connections between students with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities, and the Women’s Health in Sports (WHIS) Club, which focuses on promoting health and fitness for girls. I also volunteer with local youth sports teams, helping younger players develop their skills and love for the game

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed strong leadership and teamwork skills both on and off the field. As a player, I help organize the team, communicate effectively, and connect plays to make everyone around me better. Through my involvement in Buddy Club, WHIS, and youth sports volunteering, I’ve also strengthened my sense of community, responsibility, and the ability to mentor others.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Freshman year soccer season was a tough start. I was in the hospital during our HS tryouts and didn’t make the varsity team at first. My high school has four girls’ soccer teams, so its a very big program and I didn't know the coaches. I worked hard, stayed focused, and eventually got pulled that year, which taught me a lot about perseverance and not giving up even when things don’t go your way

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college with a true campus community, not too small, not a commuter school and where I can play competitive soccer and contribute right away. A place where I can connect with the coaches and teammates, push myself on the field, and be part of a team that works hard and supports each other.

Suess is a versatile wide player on the Rockford Raptors 09 ECNL RL. She was named to the ECNL All-Regional Team for the 2024/2025 season. Suess’ best attribute is her well-rounded game. She does a bit of everything. She lists winger or midfielder as her positions on her profile. She’s an excellent defender too. There is reason to believe she could feature as an outside back in the future. The way she wins 1v1 situations and creates chances in the final third would be quite the asset in that role. Suess’ soccer smarts and well rounded game makes a promising prospect from the 2027 group.
